Snapchat is a video messaging application created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown,[3] then Stanford University students.[4][5][6] Using the application, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps (as of March 2015, the range is from 1 to 10 seconds),[7] after which they will be hidden from the recipient's device but not deleted from Snapchat's servers.

According to Snapchat in May 2014, the app's users were sending 700 million photos and videos per day, while Snapchat Stories content was being viewed 500 million times per day. The company has a valuation of $10–$20 billion depending on multiple sources.[8]

My missus has been having snapchat with me for decades!

I only ask as the nineteen year old apprentice i have working with me at the moment seems to be obsessed with snapchat and i had never heard of it.

Anyway he is taking photos all the time with his smartphone which is annoying but the other day as we sat in the car at lunch time he seemed to be angling his phone at me as i ate my lunch so i grabbed his phone and sure enough the camera was on. He denied he was taking a photo of me but it ended in an argument. I ain't having secret photos taken and loaded to the web.
