Off work today to watch the end of the test match, Starting off by watching one flew over the cuckoo's nest.  Ten minutes in and already can't believe how good it is and how I forgot how good it waS.  Nicholson is probably the best actor I have ever seen.  All the nutters are very convincing.  And some great perving opportunities regards Nurse Ratched and her assistant.

If you liked the film, you will cream yourself over the book. It's fantastic.
Report guinness2dear August 10, 2015 10:36 AM BST
Yes, the book is a gem. And for once a film did it justice..
Report rob_dylan August 10, 2015 10:58 AM BST
How good can a book be when you have already seen the film.  Only done it once.  Trainspotting... Best book I have ever read.  And a top 3 film, as is ofotcn.
Report DIE LINKE August 10, 2015 11:10 AM BST
It's written from Chief Bromden's perspective from a start.

The Trainspotting lads should read Skagboys.
Report rob_dylan August 10, 2015 10:14 PM BST
I read Skag Boys.  It was almost as good as trainspotting.  Absolutely brilliant book.

Jack is some actor alright. He is magic in the Departed for anyone not seen it.

I watched this the other day too thanks to my HDMI dongle which gives me access to literally every notable film made! I go through the list of top rated films on IMDB.

It is a great film....it doesn't look at all like a film from the 70's. The nurse is played brilliantly...

My brother in law asked to lend my dvd of it because he cant find his, I declined his request thinking to myself, you know why you cant find yours, because I robbed it from your house years ago Grin

Cuckoos is indeed a great film, Trainspotting spectacularly less so.
Report DIE LINKE August 12, 2015 11:33 PM BST
Trainspotting is basically a collection of short stories, quite a few of which people will have heard elsewhere.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is so good because of the story and some great acting - from Nicholson down to the smallest parts. And the book is one of my favourite books of all time, incredibly sad and powerful. The film was brilliant, the book is brilliant. If you enjoyed the film but haven't read the book, you can't believe how much better the book is, would highly recommend it.

I wish I'd read the book first. The film was incredible. Brilliant acting from all, and the directing was superb.reading the book , I couldn't help but compare with the visual record in my head of the dialogue and the faces of the characters involved. Consequently didn't have a significant impact on me.
I'm about to read Deliverance. Again a genre breaking film with fantastic acting/dialogue/scenes and direction. I hope I'm not disappointed !
Report DIE LINKE August 13, 2015 4:55 PM BST
One thing the film failed to get across was while the Chief was pretending to be deaf and dumb he did have serious mental issues (paranoia and hallucinations)
