Yeah...I get the point, but I'm going to have to say people too. My five best mates are all people, tbh.
I adore dogs.Had a Scottish terrier a few years back.They are fairly grumpy 
but very independent and intelligent.
Labradores are great too, but you really need to be in the countryside to have one.Also had a King Charles, they are very very dependent can't bear to be left alone.

For me the best of the lot was the Scottish terrier.They have a really funny way about them, almost see themselves as being at the very least equal or even superior to you.Or maybe it was just me
Try locking your dog and your wife in the boot of your car and see who is pleased to see you when you let them out
