Her mother wasn't though. Blatant fetlock doffing if you blindly assume this family can just do no wrong. People forget this family's German roots and the strong feelings of empathy to nazism amongst the higher echelons of British society, and across the wider world, in the 1930s. Anti communism for starters was a motive for many. |

Nazis also transformed Germany from a broke state into a thriving country of growth with full employement. Remember there were a lot of ideaologies at this time like Communism, Facism, Capitalism that were vying to be the most succesful. In many ways Nazism was the most succesful of this period but only in hindsight did we realise the horrors it brought with it. There is nothing wrong with the picture but everything wrong with this rag newspaper publishing to gain a few extra sales.

If anyone that has read any creditable books about the 30s and 40s, will know that the Nazis had plenty of support especially from the upper crust.
It's mentioned in books like the West End Front. After Dunkirk everybody in the world thought Britain had lost the war. |

dunno about books but was watching a programme a while ago where they interviewed russians on the war with franco.
basically saying that britain could have got involved but didnt trust the ruskies so us and france stayed clear. in hindsight that gave the germans the green light. the russians to this day think we are a bunch of w4nkers for that and rightly so imo |
