Its not right, think it takes a bit of a cheek, I like the way americans would call everyone sir, or at least used to and the way the Japanese give a slight bow...something beautiful about it.

I would never have dreamed of calling my parents by their names, but my dad's cousin and his wife were called Jack and Betty by their boys.
Mrs SAGC the 2nd was referred to by her name by her children, rather than 'mum'. Never understood it myself. Even most men in their 50s in pubs in London called their dad 'dad' or 'pop'. |

My 2 lads always called me by my first name ...then when i split with their mum ...they were 4 and 6 ...they started calling me dad ...

I used to work with a father and son, and the son always called him Bob. It's quite strange imo.
I asked why he didn't call him dad, and he said he always did until they started working together. It was the dad's idea, he said I don't want you calling me dad at work. |

Rule No.1

Or close friends. ^^^^

Of course you don't call them by their first name except for a laugh. Heard my bro in law call my dad "dad" once or twice. Bit weird I thought.
|

By:
Yeah, overall that's what I was expecting.....
James only called me by name a couple of times and,as you say rob, it was just for a laugh. |

Mum and Dad, both have passed away and are at peace now and not a day goes by that they are not in my thoughts. Mum's ashes is in the front room, Dad is in West Norwood cemetery.

If i'd have called the Da by his first name they would still be picking up my bits..
The Ma is more gentle, she would have left me a leg to hobble on.. |

I'm bloody crying now thinking about them.
