when was the meaning of the word average changed? i must has missed that meeting. as far as i know the definition is along the lines of in the middle or the mean of things. now it seems it has become some sort of slur. how strange as being average is surely neither a compliment or a slur it's just average.
If the generality of things are good then average could be a compliment.
In certain circumstances below average could be good.
In certain things, such as the weather, it could be best.
And it depends on context, if you say someone is an average guy it paints a good picture.
