I watching a bumblebee going into foxgloves recently, I noticed its back was a brighter colour than normal,
I had a look in the flower and you could see why.
The flower has evolved to dab the pollen on the bees back when it's crawling in to get the nectar.
Have a look next time you see the flower (it's tall with lots of bright bell shaped flowers hanging
down at say a 45' angle).

...a Caterpillar (not sure what type) on Strawberry Mint....smells amazing especially after it has rained.

...small pot bought for two quid 2 years ago.. now through division have eight to ten plants dotted around in pots...plus given loads of small plants away)

I don't cut it back until spring in case anything is using to shelter over winter...that goes for all Herbs and everything actually except annuals like Cosmos which are taken up.

...a Phacelia Campanularia (Desert or California Bluebell) flower.Love

As blue a flower as you are likely to get.Love

Unfortunately I am not going to get too many this year.

My first year trying them and out of a tray of 40 only 4 survived....my only real disaster this year (along with Orlaya Grandiflora..about 6 out of 40)

Most of them "damped off" ....the stems rotting away when they were relatively small....as the name suggests I think they need almost desert like sandy soil so next year I will add a load of sand to the seed compost to see if it helps.
