As above chaps, I need a hard drive for my music and photos as my laptop is running out of space. The laptop is a fair few years old but still works great so im not looking to update it.

From a little look round im gauging prices and storage capabilities, but im not sure about brands and extra features some may have, transfer speeds etc. Two TB seems plenty...... Any recommendations

Thanks.

i heard that hard drives that are not used regularly get faulty, if you use them too much they get faulty too. you should maybe think about saving two copies on dvd discs or dongles. i was gonna back up to external HD's but seems more prone to electromagnetic corruption. waiting for cheaper media prices. give it a few years.

Is your music mp3 files? I have stated buying some in wav format if the prices are the same or I really like the song. At ca. 10 times the file size, things could get a bit more challenging to manage.

I have about 100GB of music, mostly high bitrate MP3 and FLAC files. Plus photos and a few films and music docs that are hard to find.

Aswell as my storage issues I want to back up what is essentially a ten  year + collection.
