It was my daddy give me in the car on the morning of my wedding day about 6 years ago to give me a wee sip out of to calm my nerves. I don't intend to drink it any time soon but there might be a time in the future I will want to take a drink of history out of what is left in the bottle.
I am a bit of a sentimental creature so while I am at it how long will a 2001 and 2011 bottle of red wine keep. Both are unopened obviously.
If I wanted to spend a bit of money on a few other bottles of lets say whiskey which would hold no sentimental value but will keep a certain value or increase in value what would anyone suggest?

I'd have thought for 100s of years? The alcohol will kill anything from making it go off.
They age whisky in casks for years deliberately.
Just keep it in a dark space away from heat, I would drink 100 year old whisky if it had been stored ok.
Wine is a very different story, and it varies from red to white and the quality of the wine and if it's a natural cork and how it's stored and so on. Store wine on its side in the cold so the cork doesn't dry out but it reaches a peak age then gets worse anyway AFAIK.

drink it, im sure you have been sick before drinking alcohol.
Having said that JD is kind of sweet so must have a sugar content.
That's a bit of a coincidence, I don't drink JD but noticed they other day they make a JD barbecue sauce so I bought it to try it. It's got a whopping 1% JD in it, I was flying after I put that on my sausages :)

Thank you for the replies. I knew wine did not last as long as whiskey but reassuring to know whiskey will last so long.
Had a look at that link trilby and I would not mind paying that kind of money for bottle but the label seemed a bit of a let down.

know nothing about whiskey and don't wish to sound like a snob but that bottle looks like something you would see in lidls which by the way I think is a great store.

Would'nt be the same Just checking. It would be like diluting history and sentimental value.
Tyndrum Gold is a Speyside malt and absolutely overpriced.
There was a limited edition of 600 bottles issued around the time of planning permission for the mine ... of which a few still exist. £300 is a ridiculous price to pay for, "the last bottle."

LIDL actually do a single malt that to me tasted nice - but I'm no whisky expert.
Thanks for the link just checking about whiskey staying drinkable btw. Read the start of it and will read the rest later. Would not care if it goes off a bit. Not a whiskey drinker so would not know the difference. Just as long as its drinkable if I keep it a long time.
Yes Trilby people confuse rarity with desireability. No point having the rarest thing in the world if no one else wants it or puts any value on it. Obviously I am speaking in investment terms.
I have an airtight jar in the fridge which is filled with sultanas and Jack Daniels.
