Anyone been to to one?

I've just booked a "Tree House" at Sherwood Forest which looks excellent.

Five adults, 1 child just six and an 8 month old.

Reviews are mixed, but many centering on high cost of food, and other amenities, and a ridiculous condition that you can only go off site once!!!

Went to Sherwood  Center Parcs for the weekend last month thoughroughly enjoyed.
Yep food is a tad pricey, but take yer own if weathers decent ready built barbecue set up outside your lodge.
Can recommend the Pizza tho and wasnt too pricey.
We had a superb view overlooking a lake and the wildlife around was fantastic rabbits/squirrels/ducks/geese/moorhens/ swans etc dont mind sharing a barbie with yer.
We had no problem with any restrictions on leaving site.

Went to Woburn in October and Sherwood Park and Thetford over 20 years ago.  Pool was a bit too small in Woburn.  Small kids aren't allowed on some of the waterslides and rapids - be ready for tantrums.  All good though check prices of various events/sports beforehand to see what you can afford - saves making promises to kids that you can't keep.  If you pick and choose carefully then it can be done cheapish.  The accommodation in Woburn was superb - try and cook your own meals and eat in your villas and it ain't so expensive, just have to box clever.

Friday to Mon in October, long weekend.  7 adults 4 kids think it was about £175 for each of the adults.  We shared 2 big villas £175 doesn't seem too bad for me.  Spent lots of time in the pool which is free.  Then played squash, table tennis and badminton which were reasonably priced iirc.  Bowling was overpriced and is always crap anyway.  Take your own bikes.

In that case, I could never stay there.

We've been 5 times since 2004 and are going for a week in August for probably the last time for approx £750, which is close to half the listed price in the Summer holidays.  We've got 4 kids who are all quite sporty so seeing as the cabins sleep 6 it's kind of ideal for us.  If we stay in a hotel anywhere it's like paying for 4 adults and 2 kids.  We always eat out in the evening and I'd say it's equivalent to 10-20% more expensive than an equivalent place elsewhere.  If you want to eat out book as early as you can.  Activities and the shops have the same sort of mark up, if not more.  Some things get booked up, so if there's anything you really want to do book before you go.  Bring what food you can with you, if it's convenient, likewise if it's no hassle to bring bikes bring them too, although we always hire them.  The swimming pools have rapids and flumes and are free.  We've only stayed at Elvedon and Whinfell although I have been to the Sherwood site as my son finished runner up in the National Schools Badminton Finals which take place there.  It was at Centre Parcs where he first started to play.
