I have a wee problem with me garden. Over a week ago I put on some of this garden stuff who conditioning/greening gardens. Got a bulk lot of it the winter at 80% off when they were clearing shelves in Tesco. High end brand or so they say. Anyways, put in on garden last week but used a lot of it and it did not rain afterwards for about a week or more. I used the rest on the back garden later and it rained soon afterwards. Back garden looking brilliant. It does work. But part of the front garden looks a mess. Some parts seemed bit scorched. Will these parts grow back to normal shortly or have I overdosed it without any water.
Got a hose for the first time last week and been watering it. Bit unrelated but never owned or used a hose before. Its wonderfully relaxing using it. Using the spray and then the fire brigade type style. Fun too when I let my little boy help and he drenched me one day. 30 metre house. They don't do 40 metres for some reason and its a bit tight getting to the very edge of the front lawn. Put it on fire brigade mode and with little bit of wind assistance I can just about get there by aiming it high and arking it round.
Been using the hose every day since. Seriously great relaxing therapy.
But back to the main question. Will me grass grow back?

There are a few uphill gardeners on here.
My back lawn is on a wee bit of a slope and its looking great. The front lawn is completely level and its the one which is a mess.
Rake the crap out which will leave a few patches. Feed the whole lawn weekly and water every day unless you have a good down pour. Also, Wilkinsons are selling lawn sand cheaply. Soon grow back this time of year.
The granules I have used, you must water in well. I normally wait until the weather forcast gives out heavy rain then scatter the day before.

He used to put spikes on his boots and walk about the garden in dry weather before he put the sprinkler on it, and his lawns look a lot better than mine.
He also told me the blade on my mower was set too low and I was cutting my grass too short.
I'm not that fussed about it though, I have proper 'Londoner's gardens', grass, conifers, bush, trees, not a flower in sight.

2 months ago I got my weed killers mixed up and applied path weed & moss killer, not my lawn weed killer on my front lawn, I was left with small patches of grass & 80% bare dead lawn. All I did was use lawn sand every 2 weeks, lawn feed every week, water every day and it`s almost back to normal, well it will be better than before.

Yes, raise the level of the cut is a good call.
Aerating is important. Have a look at the electric lawn scarifier.

Spike in yer boots seems a clinker of an idea. Not used to doing the garden myself but when I put that new type granule grass seeds in a few small areas which is supposed to work in a week and meant just to cover a few slightly bare areas I found it looked too green and took ages to blend in shade wise with the rest of the lawn.
I don't think there are any Wilkinson branches in Ireland. Nor Morrisons.
Sounds like you are wasting the nation's valuable water resources to me. It will rain again soon enough.
We don't pay for water charges in Ireland. Well not directly. Its included in overall rates.
Just water well paddle and add some liquid lawn feed, you`ll be ok.

Put a big box of extra conditioner/seed mix on this morning before it was due to rain so hopefully that might help. Probably need to stamp in down and do other stuff but just put some on.
Btw a squirrel seems to have taken up in the garden. Saw it few weeks ago and it returns every day. Flew past me this morning when I was out in. Lovely little animal to look at when its standing up. Looks very much like a meerkat when its standing up looking around. Put up some new bird feeders recently on trees in the garden so that probably why it appeared.

Mostly get chap finches sparrows and tits using the feeders.
Got some fat ball treats especially for the squireel yesterday.

I will mention that to my wife Shanlee. Any of my knowledge on things about animals is passed onto me by my wife who is a bit of an expert on most animals but especially birds.
The smaller birds, like sparrows, and our resident robin, hop through the bars of the rabbit cages and nick all their food.

Saw one amazing scene about rabbits once. Took my wife to a place in the south of Ireland to go on a boat trip to see Dolphins and we did and it was amazing seeing them playing and showing off around the little boat we were in. But heard you could see them close to the shore so left the hotel at 4 in the morning for the short drive to see them. One a small country road we came across literally hundreds on rabbits, scores of them on the road and the others on the side. Never seen anything like it.
The dolphins sound amazing.

Took her a few times to try and see an otter where a friend who fishes told me there might be one. She has always wanted to see one in the wild. Left the house just before dawn and waited ages but could not see it. Did see a few wee paw prints. Taking her sometime soon as a surprise for a falconry experience. Flippin expensive though.
Have to go now lads as i need get a passport picture for my little man. That's going to be some handling getting him to sit still. Having to take his little spidey cuddly toy to bribe him by saying he needs one too.

I have a very tame blackbird that lives somewhere around my garden. When he was young(ish) last summer, he had a damaged foot, his middle toe was missing, and I took pity on him as he couldn't compete with the other birds when I put seed and stuff out for them.
I found he wasn't afraid of me, and I put mealworms out for him, all the other birds scarpered when I appeared, but not him.
Trouble is, every time I go outside, he's there waiting for his worms... he's taken them from my hand on occasions, and sometimes stands on the doorstep waiting.
becoming a bit of a pain now lol.

Ok....just a few things....
If you have used excess amounts you will have "Burnt" the grass. Don't mess with it as it will come back stronger than before.
I have a scarifier, mainly because of moss and it's astonishing how much comes out.
If the grass was allowed to get too long, you will now be cutting the shaft, rather than the blade of the grass.
Your neighbour is probably correct as he has seen it, but a good tactic is to "scalp" it in April by cutting shorter and shorter and then let it recover before feeding, but stick to the dosage as otherwise you will be back to square one.
If you like the relaxation of hand watering, then get some "Miracle Grow" and dispenser and water early morning before any sun will just dry it up.

Forget hoses, fill a watering can adding 100ml of whiskey, the cheaper the better.
