Mange do you have a link I cant find it, found him, what a talent!!! I grew up with this stuff played live in the 60s ( God I'm old)when most English groups were playing it, Yardbirds, stones, The Who, etc, and he measures up to the old stuff Just compared the original "need your love so bad" by Little Willie John, and the BB KIng version, and his version stands out.

Superb, thanks AG. Love this stuff. To be fair to BB and Little Willie John, "Double voice" (ADT)was not around then, but he has deffo got Soul, great stuff.

The tune was groovy(great melody/lyrics mange), love the voice but wasn`t keep on the video especially the dancers.

^^^^He is using it, with a fair amount of reverb and echo, esp on the chorus. It was John Lennon who pioneered ADT at abbey rd studios, everyone (almost everyone) has used it since. Lennons "ordinary" voice was not that "big"

Will Johns has a naturally superb voice, IMO.

I think the video was low budget, agree it wasn't very good, perhaps a more natural "Night club style"  set up would really suit this music?.

By the way Mange any tips on completing a song with lyrics would be a blessing.

Ok, so i am noodling away playing some guitar lines and i find a groove, the chorus comes to me first, then perhaps one verse and then i start over analysing the process.

The Last Page - lyrically you paint a picture and complete it.

I tend to have lyrics scattered all over the place. Any tips on how to complete or does it just fall from the sky for you Mange?

^^ must have dozens like that, I get far too involved to think through the verses without analysing them to death.

I don't play, sung lead vocals for many years, I thought my wife and mortgage where more important than pursuing it with the one the singular mind set required, and turned down opportunities. Who knows might have done something, might have flopped!! just didn't give it a real go.

As soon as i wake up one of the grooves with lyrics will be playing in my head and i think `here we go kid, gonna crack this one today` so i sit down and paralysis by over analysis takes over.

Many times more lyrics just drop into my head when i am not expecting,especially when out for a walk with the beat of the walk working like a metronome, but it`s still tough to complete.

Probably if i could sing as well as you then maybe more doors would open up with my arrangements.

I watched the Mammas and Pappas doc yesterday and the vocal arrangement were magnificent, shows the benefits of writing with vocals with range.

I was offered free lessons by Patrick Bashford in 1970 his wife (Anna Raquel Satre) famous in her own right, was giving me classical voice training and a dopey 22 year old me said aawww that's alright Patrick I just want to sing, what a plank!!!, he passed away last year. He was THE professor of classical guitar at the Royal College of music. As I'm sure you know play classical guitar and you can play anything.

Don't know if singing would help, it didn't stop Macca . I suppose it would actually help, can you not team up (collaborate)with someone??. It depends if you want to write a hit, a 3 minute wonder to pay bills, which they all seem to start on, and the get strong enough to dictate to the "suits" what they really want to play.

If it`s any consolation you are in the 99.9% that didn`t give it a go and out of that 0.01% that did and made it 50% of them ended up screwed up, one way or another.

Thanx for the interest.........Its great.........Im trying to write "New Blues"..........I was a bit worried abt this version as the last verse is missing & I was worried that hed took the soul out of it.......but every time I hear it I like it more............(silly init......like me own song) But he allways claimed that he knew wot he was doing & I feel that its the delivery ..............outstanding

Well done on this, i will search to discover the blueprint of completion.

Keep going AG, sometimes a bit of liquid refreshment loosens the over analytical brain.

Just one example that you should never overestimate music buyers perspicacity, "Shaddap You Face" written and performed by Joe Dolce, was number one in 13 countries FFSSSSS [:cry: and kept Vienna (Ultravox) off the number one slot for 3 weeks!.

Herb used to be the answer box, just think how many of those great songs would remain incomplete without a little help from da herb!
