How can this guy continue to present when he has clearly disappeared up his own ar$e?

The ridiculous elongating of words at the end of every sentence - which he admitted to cultivating to be his "trademark" - and now the hilarious new hairstyle.

The Beeb certainly can pick em!!!

He could be giving us the cure for cancer but you'd never know.

The exaggerated mannerisms now totally get in the way of any message he is trying to put across - the silly twerp!

His intonation makes Australians sound normal. Regarded at the BBC as the second coming so not going anywhere.

I have wondered if his supposed affectations speech wise cover up a stammer. I have one (stammer not affectation) and whilst I don't do that there is no doubt that speaking in a sort of sing song way does negate the stammer. No stammerer stammers whilst singing oddly....

Just a thought....

The guy is very intelligent and a great writer but I have to agree with the OP about his presentation on the news - I can't listen to him.

He was off-screen for a while after his wife died from cancer and when he came back he looked a lot thinner and had a new haircut.

....and was even more of an irritating twit

An Arsenal fan, naturally.

I don't think the independent television companies would entertain a bumbling presenter like him.

The BBC used to be famous for their people always speaking clearly and without accent.

Now it's an obligation to sound odd.
And from abroad in many cases.

He was an appalling HIGNFY guest presenter. The worst I've ever seen.
