I'm about to get the following work done on my house:
:: New laminate flooring downstairs, and carpets on the stairs and upstairs
:: Redecorated throughout the house
:: A new bedroom radiator
:: A new wall-mounted TV in my lounge
:: Quite a few pictures to be put on walls in several rooms, requiring nails to be put in the walls
What order should I get it all done? It goes without saying that I'll be getting people in to do all the work (I don't even trust myself to knock a nail into a wall!).

make sure you use the right fixings for the tv otherwise it will take half the caravan wall with it when it falls off
Why is laminate flooring "tasteless"? If I ever get dogs again, it'll be infinitely easier to clean laminate flooring than carpets.
Laminate is a must if you've got dogs.

New radiator = you might have to get the floorboards up and if you've laid new carpet?
TV mountings = you might need to patch up after and if you've already decorated?
Same with nails in the walls.
And if you've done the floors you don't want to be dripping paint all over them.

laminate is cheap and cheerful but looks hideous agreed , but does have it's uses - dogs is one of them
Cheap laminate looks awful, good quality oak looks great, imo of course .
What about vinyl flooring? Is it better or worse than laminate flooring? As you can see, I haven't got a clue when it comes to stuff like this.

Knotted pile carpets are fine with dogs in my experience. Laminate floors are suitable only for prison cells or care homes.

Why not go the whole hog and get Lino?

The only thing that looks worse than cheap laminate is cheap carpet.
If you take your shoes off in the house get carpet.
If you treat the floor like a floor get laminate.

Disagree about the lino but it will look sh*t if it gets damaged.

If you live in an office or have a wheel chair get Laminate otherwise its carpet.
We've Lino in the hall and kitchen and looks pristine despite 2 years old. Keep the offcuts for patch jobs though as when we moved the fridge we damaged the lino. Fortunately it was tiled lino so patched well.
Ovalman, that's a good tip there about getting a tiled design.
