As spectacular as it is, it needs livening up a bit.
Get all the convicted terrorists and nutjobs for IS, from UK prisons out on the parade ground, and shoot them.

Was brilliant as per usual. We could have what you suggest as an opener to warm up the crowds though spelling.
Gets rid of scum, and lowers the prison bill.

Can't beat a bit of good old trooping.
Must cost millions but if they weren't trooping they are still on the pay roll! also as with New Year fireworks it is good for the country's prestige.
It's the bears I feel sorry for and those busbys seem to get bigger every year! Prince Philip's looked particularly lofty.
How the hell some of them can see I don't know, and what I noticed this time, is that some of them were only very young.
Nice and still and cool for it so no fainting this time.
I also saw, at one point, one of them looking towards the one to his right and seemingly having a joke.
Five months "spud bashing" for him!
Another observation, is that I didn't see any horses get caught short, which is unusual.
