My granddaughter is going through a little spell at the moment, she is 5 years old. My daughter informed me she just went out house without stating she was going anywhere, getting everyone concerned about her wellbeing after missing for 40 mins, yesterday she stole money from her gran's house, then pretended she found money in the park when out playing with friends. She has been ticked of by whole family about stealing and general misbehaving, so have decided I would have her next weekend to try and get a grip of what is going on in her mind at the moment. Obviously I will spend a fair bit of time with her trying to emphasise the rights and wrongs about certain action's, but at the same time not bombard her. Hoping there may have been a film out there suitable for children which we could watch together, and maybe allow her to grasp things in her own way. My daughter has mentioned recently she seems to be getting out of hand, so would like to try and get this nonsense sorted as soon as possible. Any advice welcome

Needs to be something which keeps a child attention, Oliver a bit of an old movie, is this not in black and white? or has there been a newer version been put out?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Mary Poppins but from your description she may enjoy the Godfather Trilogy more.

Laugh What I'm looking for is maybe a family type film, with a little boy or girl who misbehaves and causes distress to family, then turns everything round and is loved by everyone Laugh as maybe a bit of tearful moments Devil

"The Wizard Of Oz" is mega ancient, but it's digitally re-mastered and great for kids.

' ............5 year old girl missing from house for 40 mins ? I'd be more than ' concerned about her well being '.........'

I'd question the parents, as to how a little girl can go ' missing ' for this length of time.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is not a good example, he broke the rules by drinking the fizzy lifting drink but still won because he managed to get out of it.

btw I'm no child care expert and this is veering off-topic but is there not a danger, unless you play your cards carefully, of actually teaching the girl that petty theft is rewarded by lots of attention and unlimited films and ice cream? I've no idea what the right answer is though, other than hoping she grows out of it.

Hello I have 2 young children.

Don't bother trying to emphasise the rights and wrongs. She will not listen to what you say, children at that age don't, especially if her mum has already been doing this. Just try to listen to her and let her explain. It is much more important to try and understand the reason why she is doing these things. Find out how she feels when she does them. Maybe she is doing it because she is after some attention (especially if no-one notices her gone for 40 minutes), maybe she's just testing boundries. Whatever it is just try to find out the reasons and motivations for her actions and then tell your daughter and let her sort it out.

As for films, Frozen is all the rage but she may well have seen it, or Tangled or Beauty and the Beast.Anything Disney I suppose.

Good luck, hope it works out.

I know its probably more of a boys film but I think Disney cars 1 is a brilliant film. Lightning McQueen starts off really cocky at the start and in the opening dialogue proclaims he eats losers for breakfast but by the end of the film he gives up his dream of winning the piston cup by stopping at the finishing line to go back to help the "king" end his last race. Some good lessons for any child throughout what is a wonderful movie for any child and parent to watch together. The second cars film is nowhere near as good.

I agree about keeping pecking at her, I will just spend a few day's quality time with her, and getting a feel of what makes her tick. When I said she went missing for 40 mins, it was noticed quite quickly that she had popped out house, she has many friends in the same street where they play with each other in their gardens. My daughter obviously went around the various neighbours, then having to go to park which is very close to eventually find her playing with a few friends, but she knows she needs to inform her mother that she is going out to a friends. My daughter just said she has recently started misbehaving, and my daughter is finding her a tad taxing on the temples at the moment. So decided I would give her a little break from the youngest one, and leave my daughter with her bigger sister who is 8 years old. I have a good variations of films to pick from here, so should managed to get through the weekend without topping myselfLaugh Kidding. I live on my own, so will be expecting to get no time to myself over the weekend, probably not have time to have a puntCry
