The reception is hardly one Nicola Sturgeon can have been hoping her tartan army would receive on their arrival at Westminster.

Two weeks on from the Election, the longest-serving member of the House of Commons, Gerald Kaufman, issued a withering assessment of the behaviour of the unprecedented intake of 56 Scottish Nationalist MPs (up from just six in 2010).

‘I think that their conduct is infantile,’ said Mr Kaufman yesterday. ‘They’re goons, and if they go on like this, instead of using their undoubted mandate from the Scottish people to be serious about issues on behalf of Scotland, they will devalue themselves.

Typically cringeworthy DM attempt to discredit Scottish MPs for such cardinal sins as: ´taking selfies´; ´brashly evicting the Lib Dems from offices they’d occupied for more than a century´...as they were perfectly entitled to do I assume; clapping instead of shouting ´hear hear´ or ´rubbish´; Mhairi Black drinking snakebite; and the best one...´Black was eating a quintessentially Scottish lunch: chips, bread, and a packet of cola cubes´- what like English people don´t eat chips with bread then?

Unlikely., since she's not even an MP.

Scotland's TRUE embarrassment (apart from mendacious sycophants like akabula) is the filthy, lying LibDem Alistair Carmichael, who, if he'd admitted his "error of judgement" over the attempted smear on Nicola Sturgeon a month earlier, he'd have saved the taxpayers the £1.4 million spent on the enquiry. Carmichael and LibDems, completely without scruples, a party with zero credibility.

Desperate times for a Scottish unionist when he resorts to citing the Daily Mail.

I've heard that line, or similar, repeated countless times. Many of the same people who are saying that the SNP are impotent were hoping that UKIP might win more than one seat. Funny how they ridicule the SNP but not UKIP.

Report pawras • May 25, 2015 6:20 PM BST

Come on I’m genuinely interested to know how 56 snp members can wield any influence over the UK parliament when the Tories have a majority with 331 seats unless you have numerous Tories rebel and vote against the government?

If I’m wrong I’ll hold my hand up cos I don’t say I’m aufait with parliamentary procedure but logically I can’t see how snp can do anything but make a bit of noise, achieve f all and stamp their feet shouting referendum every time they don’t get their way at Westminster.

I did a quick scan of parliamentary procedure and I didn't see any clause which said the votes of snp members of parliament count more than those of other parties.

So I await enlightenment with bated breath……..

What's in store with the Tories? More assaults on the right to strike. More "job creation", i.e., sh1tty part time, zero hours jobs or steady ones with subsistence wages which cuts to welfare will further undermine. More immigration: Don't forget, the bigger the labour pool, the more the Tories love it, so never be fooled by promises of lower immigration - classic divide and rule. What happened to the last promise? Looking forward to the abolition of the Human Rights Act and arrest on simple suspicion? Be careful, be very very careful.

They have lots of nasty stuff in store. As previously noted, the perfect storm.

George Kerevan MP
STATE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT... AND MUSICAL CHAIRS

Wednesday is the state opening of Parliament by the Queen. We will get to know just what Bills the Tories are going to introduce. The next few days will see general debates on the main topics (including implementing the Smith Commission proposals, or a version of them). However, there is also likely to be a bit of Westminster games courtesy of the Labour Party. It works like this.

The debating chamber at Westminster was built deliberately too small to seat every MP. The idea was to make it more intimate so that rational men and women of good faith could actually exchange ideas in debate and perhaps reach a sensible conclusion. I respect that ideal even if it sometimes falls short in the practice. The problem is that if the chamber is full roughly a third of MPs cannot take part and so are excluded from representing their constituents in discussion. This is not necessarily a problem if all the parties are sensible and let representatives of each group have space on the benches. Unfortunately, Labour is in a bad mood after its defeat and is deliberately trying to exclude the SNP from getting enough seats in the chamber.

We have tried to put a compromise to the Labour interim leadership but they are either refusing to play ball or actually not returning calls. It could be that they have lost control of their backbenchers. The SNP is only asking to have space for 26 of our 56 members - a handsome compromise - provided we get front bench space. We are more than willing to let Denis Skinner sit on our front bench! However, it seems Labour wants to crowd us to the back and, if they can, actually deny us as few seats as possible. So much for democracy.

So if you read in the media that there has been a dispute over Commons seating, do not think this is trivial or that the SNP members are being childish. Given the system at Westminster, if we do not claim seats we will be EXCLUDED from participation, even though we were elected by our constituents. Thank God the system at Holyrood is more modern.

"So if you read in the media that there has been a dispute over Commons seating, do not think this is trivial or that the SNP members are being childish"

They apparently set up a rota waiting outside the commons door as they were waiting on the opportunity to run in to grab Skinner's normal seat on the actual Labour front bench, not because they needed that seat, but because it was in the camera angle they wanted, so for the duration so they could sit their promoting themselves and making an ar*e of themselves during PMQs etc. That's nothing to do with exclusion from parliament.

Scotland's embarrassment. (akabula note spelling - what school did you go to son?Laugh)

The LieDems lied about tuition fees five years ago, thus enabling themselves to become the Tories' flunkeys and grab a few crumbs of power. During the indyref campaign, the LieDems and other BitterTorygether components lied to older voters, telling them they'd lose their state pensions in the event of a YES vote, and lied to Polish and other immigrants, telling them they'd be repatriated in the event of a YES vote. Thus we shouldn't really be surprised at Carmichael's behaviour, because despicable though it is, he and the LieDems have exposed form in lying and smearing in attempts to gain electoral advantage, which was undoubtedly the purpose with his latest, pre general election dirty trick.

David Mundell is now Tory gauleiter for Scotland, undemocratically so since he is the sole Tory MP in Scotland. They have no mandate. He was Carmichael's understudy prior to the election, and it is impossible to believe that his hands, and very possibly those of others, have escaped staining in this episode.

Gave the Police a massive pat on the back for their sterling work a couple of weeks before their chief was forced to resign for their poor performance.
Then told the parliament that massive advances had been made in the NHS in relation to bed blocking.
"Targets delivered" she announced in that smug little fashion of hers.
"Really?" asked Kezia Dugdale as she explained that the 2011 figure of 200k days had risen more than threefold to 612k days.
Still no apology from Sturgeon for misleading parliament.

It's about time that Sturgeon got her eye back on the ball rather than mentioning a further referendum at every opportunity.
