Groups of pathetic people going to different parts of the world, killing and eating intelligent wild creatures in the name of pathetic TV entertainment should be stopped. If these weird western, well off pampered and well fed cretins want to learn about 'tough survival' they should visit some of the dozens of places where people are dying from starvation.

since when was a crocodile intelligent?
Report Aunty Post April 30, 2015 8:21 AM BST
I guess this has been on for a while and I just picked up on the last one (I think) where they caught the Croc.
Not my  normal choice of entertainment and I never watched any of the I'm a "Celebrity.....

What we tend to forget is that they are not the only people on the island. There are at least two, but probably four, production guys,
so that makes it all somewhat false.

A while ago there was a tv crew who, they say, were filming a long lost tribe from the Amazon or wherever.

These people had never seen anyone from outside and they were mesmerised by one of them and all the gadgets etc that he had.

Again he was not the only one there, so there was at least a cameraman, maybe a sound man, maybe a producer, but not once did they look at any of them!
Report morpteh mackem April 30, 2015 8:55 AM BST
why is it always posh people on these survival competitions ? love them to come across a tribe of cannibals( who are hungry ) .
Report naydam April 30, 2015 9:03 AM BST
I believe that four of the party are au fait with camera work and are part of the actual ordeal (ie. they endure the same conditions).

I would also so that crocodiles have been intelligent for millions of years. Any knowledge of variable calculus etc. would be as useless to him as it is to the human castaways.
In fact, the crocodile has been here for so long that he has probably done all that nonsense with televisions and mobile phones...and he said "f**k it! I don't need all this stress...I'm going fishing!"
Report Facts April 30, 2015 11:23 AM BST
Yep, filming themselves, no production team etc. Just the team members.

Can't help feeling it's staged though. Last night's main focus was the ' macho guy' who  refused to do the fishing pitch, as a result no one caught fish, and they hadn't eaten for days. Macho man then bitched about everybody who didn't work 24/7 like he did. This seemed to really get to some, and anger/resentment began to rear it's ugly head. But  they went all ' getting in touch with the real man ' - and macho man broke down because everyone was nice to him. As a reward he restarted fishing and caught enough to stop them from starving. A hero !
Report Crisp77 April 30, 2015 11:28 AM BST
The thing is with the macho man he could easily provide for himself and did not need the others until he got in a bit of bother and they saved him. So generally working with the others is an insurance policy. If he shares with them when he is ill and cannot hunt or does not catch anything they will look after him in turn. I think being saved made him realise that but of course everyone still needs to pull their weight but do the job best suited to themselves whether it be hunting, cooking, collecting wood, making shelters etc.

Oh yeh, forgot about the being saved bit. That was wasn't contrived at all.

I agree with kenny

I decided ages ago not to watch these contrived programmes, all the above tells me it was a good decision. Nice to back a winner every now and then. Happy
Report gawdalmighty April 30, 2015 1:45 PM BST
Yeah I agree 100% Kenny. Killing wild animals just for TV entertainment. Endangered crocs put on island just for a few city twots to hunt. They threw a few piglets in for the girls island and they were killed too, all for our entertainment. If Bear Grylls should be stripped naked, covered in BBQ sauce and put on an island with 50 hungry wolves, I would pay to watch that. In a not gay way.
Report akabula April 30, 2015 1:50 PM BST
I never watch any of this rubbish. All contrived and cheap viewing.

Put them on the streets of east London for a month, with no cameras.

Once again I find myself at odds with the majority. I find this series very interesting although there should be no quitting allowed unless it is a medical emergency. None of this popping back home because two of you have had a row, or your false nails are coming off!

The object of the exercise is to see how a hotch-potch group of ordinary people would cope under adverse conditions. This would, and should, naturally result in some in-fighting.

I think we should offer a ChitChat group of 14 names...I'd like to go and the others could be supplied by two or three of the multi-username chappies. It would be super! An absolute Whizz!!!  Laugh
Report Eeternaloptimist April 30, 2015 4:31 PM BST
The question is whether the animals were indiginous to the island in which case despite not being a meat eater I can appreciate the experiment. If they were shipped in then it brings the experiment into disrepute.
Report SlippyBlue April 30, 2015 4:48 PM BST
I don't watch the programme but naydam's idea of 14 chit chatterers on a desert island survival test is rather a good one. I'm putting the spread of homicides at 2.5-3.5.

All these 'reality' programmes are total bollocks.

Sticking a dozen z-list morons in a house for Big Brother is only done because

a) the daft bastards will play up to the cameras
b) there will be arguments

But they had to clean it up by warning people what they can get away with.

And as for sad fackers that watch it... It was on here years ago that I looked in on a 'LIVE' thread.

I wondered who they were talking about, so I waited about 3 or 4 minutes for an advert break in the film I was watching, and switched channels.

For the next 3 or 4 minutes I sat there totally amazed at the live pictures of a foot sticking out from under a duvet. LaughLaughLaugh

Whoever it was, was sound asleep.

I went back to my film, and looked at the thread when it had finished.

To my great joy, as I missed it, it was reported that whoever it was, their arm had fallen out of the duvet at 2-55 a.m. LaughLaugh

Such was my excitement, I had to calm down before I went to bed.

WALOFS these programmes are.

I quite like the show to be honest.

See how people would survive. From what I understand all the people on the show do their own filming etc.

(though emergency backup isn't far away on another island).

In nature animals kill other animals to survive. We are just another animal on this planet.

If they stayed in the uk more animals would have been killed for them to eat via supermarkets or butchers.
Report maleuk01. April 30, 2015 7:53 PM BST
so Kenny man your a croc down and 2 piglets, but your up 34 chickens, 1 cow a pig and 3 lambs.

So swings and roundabouts I guess.
Report akabula April 30, 2015 7:56 PM BST
Would it have been more interesting if the croc had eaten one of them?
That would fit in with your in nature analogy.
