Is this big news in the UK? Media saturation here in Oz.

Only really know of the Aussie lads, and their guilt is not in question.

There should be more sympathy for the thousands being murdered in the Middle east for not subscribing to the current favourite brand of voodoo or for what we might judge as minor infractions of Sharia Law.
I think Australia give this region a lot of money in aid, surely they should cut that off straight away
If they were British that nice PM would have them flown home to serve a long sentence in a nice comfy British prison.
Well, it worked in Laos, when a 'British' woman under a death sentence got a spoonful of Harry Monk from a guard, or a male prisoner, shoved it up her snatch, got pregnant and was brought 'home' to the UK.
At the same time there was a British man on the same charge, and also under a death penalty.
He can't get pregnant though, so he's probably dead now.

I can only think that they got their just desserts. They were smuggling heroin ffs! They were quite prepared to ignore the damage that these drugs would cause to other peoples lives. They were in it for the huge profit related to dug smuggling.
Well, they should have known that the huge profit margin is because of the harsh penalties if getting caught...and they got caught!

It is barbaric lfc but the smugglers knew the consequences if they got caught.

Zero sympathy here - just hope the Indonesians would hurry up and get it over and done with.
They were smuggling drugs out of Bali, back to Oz. I have been to Bali, when you get there and go through customs there are signs everywhere saying DEATH to drug smugglers. It is quite confronting. To see those signs, and know the reputation of Asian countries and still go through with it makes you a special kind of stupid.
My issue mainly is with the Australian Federal Police who knew what they were doing and rather than let them return and arrest them here, tipped off the Indonesians knowing these guys would receive a punishment far beyond what is acceptable here. Proper dogs act.

Death by firing squad is no more 'killed in cold blood' than any other state execution. The object of the exercise is a quick, clean execution. This is pretty much guaranteed with a firing squad.

JonHig. I assume that you are deliberately misunderstanding the meaning if 'in cold blood'.
It wouldn't go amiss to bring back the death penalty here now that dna evidence virtually rules out errors and mistakes.

You hit the nail on the head naydam. I live in a country where 'cold blooded' murder is a daily occurrence, and more often than not drug related!
Heroin has decimated communities and will continue to do so.
Do you think any of these smugglers gave a thought to that or to the families that have watched loved ones get hooked then deteriorate before their eyes.
A big fat NO is the answer. All they were thinking of was making money. So not an ounce of sympathy here for any of them.

the only change i would like to see is that the accused are shot once all the evidence is conclusive..i dint realise that some of
those shot had been in jail up to 10yrs !! imagine living from day too day thinking the next one could well be your last. ?

B-B....the thing I just don't get with the lethal injection is as to why it has to be a concoction of drugs, that seem to be unreliable

There is a particular suicide pill that is self administered, as it is illegal for another to do it (at least that is the case in the three states
in the US that will allow for it).
I'm thinking back to last year when Brittany Maynard chose to end her life with dignity.

I think the problem is AP that the US used to get the required drugs from the EU, now because of the EU's stance against the death penalty they stopped everyone supplying them.
