My daughter won a gold medal at the Paralympics after which the Post Office kindly painted one of their postboxes in our village gold and put up a plaque commemorating this.

Last week some vandals covered it in graffiti and yesterday the local newspaper put up an article on their website about this.

The UKIP candidate for our constituency took it upon himself to go and clean the post box up and now it's graffiti free.

I'm still a classic floating voter so this kind act has not swayed me in that respect, but I am impressed with someone prepared to get up and get involved at a practical, civic level - and before anyone says anything about why didn't the family clean it up, cleaning it is not the issue we are dealing with. We want the perpetrators caught and punished.
