For the first time in 37 years I have tried salmon, I have resisted this long because I knew i wouldnt like it. It is god awful rubbish, lesson learned.

Me too. Normally salmon fillet with rice in the week and poached egg and smoked salmon in an English muffin on the weekend. Sometimes salmon and scrambled egg.

it's nice with a baked potato .. but I don't bake potato's too often as they're not worth the time & effort

Tuna fish sandwiches are a new fav of mine though .. nice & simples with a few slices of cucumber added Happy

I've never liked salmon. I'd never eat raw fish anyway (unless I was shipwrecked).

This'll make you hungry:

OP did not have "fresh salmon" OP had a fake fish similar to the  wild fish commonly known as Atlantic Salmon (salmo salar) ,now genetically modified fed on all sorts of rubbish including waste products  ,treated with a multitude of bad assed chemicals and sold to the general public under the banner of Scottish Salmon.

you was eating a farmed fish ,a fake salmon .

A Genetically modified lump of fat, dye and chemicals Plain

How idle do you have to be to think that baking a spud is "effort"?  Literally turn oven on, put spud in oven close door, open door and retrieve spud 90 mins later.  It is stone age cooking at it's finest.  Raw or smoked is the only way to eat salmon.  Cooked in any traditional way it is awful.

Yes but how lonely will that single jacket spud be in my oven for an entire 90 minutes on his own Blush

Can't abide salmon in any form. Very overrated. For a real fish treat have an Arbroath Smokie.

Thought you were a veggie, aka?   Agree with you about Smokies mind!   My favourite salmon is hot-smoked, served cold of course, with home made mayonnaise. Would prefer wild, but prices prohibitive now, and decently sourced farmed salmon is perfectly acceptable.  Mind you as has been said there is some farmed garbage about.

Was just wondering Mc.Wink  I like it too.  I like Smoked Haddock as well!, poached in milk then use the latter to make a parsley sauce; Mash and little broad beans.   YumHappy

Very surprising.  The salmon is the king of fish.  Fried salmon steaks (in a little butter) the best imo.
I was at a conference in England in the 1980s and the salmon at the buffet lunch was gray!!!
