Heading towards June and only four seen.
Two at mine and two at daughters place. |
|
By:
Lunch outside two days running and not a single one.
I thought they'd go mad for the "Cidre" but zero interest, so no "Zapper" action again. |

Total to date is seven!
|

On the insect list, I haven't seen even one Ladybird.
No "Red Admiral" butterflies on my "Buddleia",and precious few bees. |

First time in the garden without my zapper, and along comes one for wine tasting.
Went to get it and the little sod had drowned it's sorrows. Second one I didn't know I got, but it was stuck on the wire. Thing is these were tiny little critters, but still menacing. Total now is nine..... |

Bit late but time to mothball (or should that be "waspball")this till next year.
On a rare, warm, part day a couple of weeks ago two hyper active little buggers were enjoying the flowers outside a certain supermarket. Add to that two, mesmerised by the smell of vino in my re-cycle box, my final count for the whole year is thirteen. |

Well, having closed the file for this year, I had another one in the house yesterday.
Too high to take out with my "Zapper", so had to resort to the ineffective, EU approved, version of "Raid". Surely that's it now! |

The ExecutionerTM Fly Swat Wasp Bug Mosquito Swatter Zapper
fook me this person didtn like the Executioner at all , she said she need 4 Initial post: 20 Jun 2013 18:35:32 BDT Last edited by the author on 20 Jun 2013 18:37:26 BDT K Smith says: I bought an "Executioner" and a "cheap knockoff" (at less than a quarter of the price) and personally I can't see much difference in zapping power. To kill a housefly with either you have to pin it up against a window and hold the button down for 5 or 10 seconds until the fly starts to smoke (actually easier to do with a "cheap knockoff" as the fly gets caught in the safety mesh). However, the main problem is when you see a fly you have to retrieve your zapper from where you left it, by which time the fly will probably have landed somewhere and effectively disappeared. For that reason, I wish I'd bought four of the "cheap knockoffs" (which would have cost less than The Executioner) and then I could have kept two upstairs and two downstairs so one of them would always be near at hand. Just my 2p. |

But Roger on the other hand loves them
Roger William Fox says: I have an old one and added battery in series with tape etc. Can't get the flap on now but boy do those flies smoke now! (No guarantee the extra battery won't blow up your Zapper though!). I have one of these from ages ago. Wouldn't be without it. I have two hates. Dogs and flies (sorry dog lovers!). Dogs lay it, flies spread it' I have no guilt about destroying something that eats you know what on the pavement then lands on your sandwhich! |

If you drop a piece of wet cotton thread, about an inch long, onto the zapper it should spark when the cotton lands. I just tried it on mine. If you don't see a spark your zapper has probably stopped working. The cotton thread has to be wet for the test to work. Little tip for the killers ----------------------------------------------------------------- FFS 435 of 444 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa!, 28 Sept. 2010 By S.Weasel This review is from: The ExecutionerTM Fly Swat Wasp Bug Mosquito Swatter Zapper (Garden & Outdoors) Bought this as a bit of a joke present. I've seen cheap knockoffs waved around in the market that didn't seem to do much, but the reviews convinced me this one might work. Boy howdy! Does it ever! My husband came zooming into the room with the Executioner and an evil grin and said, 'you have GOT to see this thing in action!' CRACK, burst of light, the mosquito just vaporized. We've been stalking around the house ever since looking for stuff to kill. I fear for my immortal soul. |

Those things are beyond useless TC.
You have to be so close that the little tw@t will see you and also at a precise angle to the surface, otherwise no good. After I got my zapper I found that they do a slightly bigger one, and with "C-Cells", which must be even better. If you don't believe how effective they are, I invite you to touch one! |

Slippy, I have also only been stung once and I don't know by what!
Ten years ago, walking down the tow path of the canal at Sowerby Bridge for dinner. Over hanging bushes that had to be brushed away. Suddenly I had something covering my right eye and instinctively swatted it away. Stung in an instant, just below my eye, and my God did it hurt. Didn't know how to deal with it, but spent the entire meal, with dripping ice, into my Calf's Liver. Honestly thought that our trip to Barcelona, the following day, could be compromised! Guessing it was a bee, or maybe a spider. |

I once walked about a quarter mile, down to the lake at Roundhay Park, with a wasp on my nose.
Had been taught not to react and get them angry. My bro in law had a technique of gently blowing them. Unfortunately my son lashes out as if he is in a boxing ring, and causes mayhem at the table, and then runs off, leaving the rest of us to deal with the angry little b@stards! |

Seen about four in total and not many bees either, the queens(born this year )now full of eggs (some fertilised but mostly drones) will be looking for somewhere to hibernate until the l spring warmth awakens them and they get going again , when you see the big uns early spring think twice before you kill them ,deffo in decline .Was sitting in the garden by the shed a few years ago in the April sun ,could here this scraping sound ,was coming from behind the shed ,had a butchers and there was a queen wasp with its jaws out trying to eat the wood off the shed ,the rasping sound was loud ,they chew the wood up into pulp to build there nests .

Didn't expect to post on here again this year.
Just relaxing with a G&T and there's a massive black and orange something, hovering near the ceiling, and looking a bit dazed. Went to get a spray, and my zapper and closed the door, then when I returned it has vamoosed!!!! The blinds had been slightly open, so I closed them, and maybe it is behind somewhere. Hopefully tomorrow it will have exhausted itself. Only thing is that I'm wondering what the hell it is!! Hornet...."Super Wasp" or what? |
