Should put a big smile on his face, mind you you would be hard pressed to tell if he was smiling or in dire need of the loo Crazy

He'll be playing Glastonbury next

Headline writers missed a trick there.

Seem to remember he was married to a woman at one stage.

Has a daughter but since his divorce he's avoided the bermuda triangle at all costs.

SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD  he may have to fly that way again
Report buzzer April 9, 2015 2:23 PM BST
Even now?
Report Slicer April 9, 2015 2:25 PM BST
My favourite song by Barry is Somewhere in the Night which was on the "b" side of Copacabana in the UK. It was written by Richard Kerr and  Will Jennings and Barry's version was a cover of Richard Kerr's original version. IMHO Barry's version is the best of all released. Helen Reddy's version is crepe compared to it, but I never liked Helen Reddy anyway.

I hope this snippet of information enhances the syrupy middle of the road pop knowledge of all forumites.
Report buzzer April 9, 2015 2:28 PM BST
I thought Barry was telling the truth when he said "I write the songs" Cry
Report Slicer April 9, 2015 2:32 PM BST
He certainly wasn't Mr Buzzer. In fact his breakthrough hit Mandy was a cover of Scott Englishes original Brandy- a tune I remember hearing on the pirate station Radio Caroline!
Report blackpood April 9, 2015 2:34 PM BST
I had no idea he was a chutney ferret.
Report buzzer April 9, 2015 2:36 PM BST
I'm sure you're mistaken slicer, history has been rewritten, thinking about it Could it be magic?
Report Slicer April 9, 2015 2:38 PM BST
I am not mistaken Mr Buzzer! In this case I was there when history was made.

Ah well we got there in the end in fact It Looks Like We Made It Happy
Report Slicer April 9, 2015 2:45 PM BST
I hope the happy couple are not planning a weekend in New England. Population ethnicity has changed remarkably from Old England!
Report Crisp77 April 9, 2015 2:50 PM BST
After this revelation Barry will now be singing his songs as they were originally written for him. Look out for:

Andy
Could it be mans dick
The old dongs
Cop-a-banana

No chance Barry's still Tryin to get the feeling again so that rules out them trying to make Beautiful Music All The Time.
He can't even laugh at any best man jokes unless his doctor is present because he Can't Smile Without Him.
Report Wesdag April 9, 2015 3:05 PM BST
I'm burning all my Barry Manilow records.
Report Slicer April 9, 2015 3:11 PM BST
The evidence was there for all to see if there had been Specsavers when Barry started out. He played the piano for Bette Midler at " male bath houses". It just goes to show that there are many shade of grey when it comes to pink!

I´ll bet Elton is livid that he didnt even get an invite to the big day!

Report flushgordon1 April 9, 2015 10:47 PM BST
Or will he come and give without taking?
Report bodil April 10, 2015 1:02 AM BST
To be fair, good for him, always thought he too ugly for either sex.

Guess he was the inheritor of Liberace's tradition.
Report akabula April 10, 2015 11:34 AM BST
I bet you TSO is tearing his Manilow posters of his bedroom walls as we post.
Never liked the wee fecker.

What would my mother have made of this? She never really recovered from the Mathis revelations. No way could she have coped with this.

Not as shocking as when Eddie Charlton came out.

Gay weddings, sign of the times....

I always worry whats going to be next?

Its a pity that Bernie Winters didn´t live to see the day so he could marry his beloved Schnorbitz

Eddie Charlton?
Report akabula April 10, 2015 11:31 PM BST
I think he's having a laugh.
Steady Eddie died over 10 years ago and had been married twice.

Report Pokermonster April 11, 2015 12:00 AM BST
My apologies, Bodil, it's something of a running joke.

I once caused a huge argument on here, later spilling over onto the snooker forum, when I innocently commented that Eddie Charlton was a raging homosexual.  It was only several days later it dawned on me that it wasn't steady Eddie I was thinking of at all, it was Liberacé.
Report bodil April 11, 2015 12:06 AM BST
I - genuinely - laughed out loud.  That doesn't often happen - without a high body count.

Weirdly I was listening to Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now".  Not by choice.  End of days must be coming.  Publication?

Eddie Charlton = Liberace?  Presumably you sought professional help?

Confused Eddie Charlton with Liberace LaughLaughLaugh
Report Pokermonster April 11, 2015 12:13 AM BST
The book is still in the drawer, presented to not a single agent.  Alas, I have been afflicted with a terrible laziness my entire adult life, but I bear it stoically.

The Charlton / Liberacé confusion is a mistake anyone could make, surely?
Report themightymac April 11, 2015 12:18 AM BST

Everyone knows Eddie would get up to all sorts of tricks, only with women of course Mischief

Yes, Mac, but to be fair I think it was losing the 1975 final to Ray Reardon that knocked him sideways.
Report pumphol. April 11, 2015 12:22 AM BST
It was said Eddie still harboured dreams of winning the world title well into the 1980's when even Tony Meo had more chance of winning it Crazy

He was the polar opposite of Jimmy White.
Report themightymac April 11, 2015 12:26 AM BST
Snooker was good back then. So many characters, i.e. The Hurricane, Steady Eddie, The Methodical Mountie, Whirlwind, Big Bill, Kirk Stevens, Dracula, etc, etc. Barry Hearn ruined the game with tv over kill and it`s all clones playing now.
Report Pokermonster April 11, 2015 12:27 AM BST
True, but Jimmy's version of the Beer Barrel Polka is woeful.
