Perhaps until the very last moment people thought there would be some kind of miracle and they could show it to the world.

The data carrier with the video sequence that survived the crash apparently unscathed was found on the crash site by one of the investigators. The video is an important piece of evidence!

The authenticity oft the video is unquestionable, although the scenery on board is chaotic, totally blurred and no individuals can be identified.

The video was recorded in the rear of the plane. It is unclear whether this was done while standing or sitting. It is also not known whether a passenger or crew member has filmed.

The video supports the statement of French prosecutor Brice Robin who gave a detailed press conference last Thursday.

►The audible screams prove that the passengers on board knew what desperate situation they were in. One can hear the cry „My God“ in several languages.

►The video also seems to confirm what the previous analysis of the voice recorder states: You can hear at least three clearly metallic sounding strikes. Apparently the pilot trying to break open the cockpit door with an ax or another metal object – until the very end.

►Just before the end of the video the aircraft seems to be touching a mountain. It looks like the cabine gets blown to the side. Once again you can hear people cry – then the video ends.

How come this footage on a mobile phone actually survived the crash?

Mobile phone tester Dirk Lorenz (43): „It’s very unlikely a mobile phone could have survived such an impact. However, a memory card can be very durable. Even if a mobile phone smashes into a thousand pieces the memory card can remain intact. For example when the impact was somewhat cushioned.“

He probably means SD card. My phone has an Micro SD in it. Never mind people often keep their cameras with them when flying.

If it wasn't burned up I wouldn't be surprised if one survived, and also not surprised if it was filmed, most things that happen like this seem to get filmed these days. I think the first instinct for many now when anything happens is to whip their phone out and film it.

So thinking about it, the big variables here are really if they were burned up or not, or if broken out of the equipment, found on a hillside like that. MicroSDs are tiny.
