Racing folks used to be a stoic bunch, but ever since her brother's filly won the Oaks she's managed to turn every Saturday into either a blubfest or a kindergarten lesson. Even if she's not presenting the show, some other numbskull on CH4 racing is trying to provoke an "emotional reaction" from connections.

That is because it is down to the producers not the presenters. It is what IMG does. Sport is not about sport any more: it's about human interest stories. Same as BGT and all the rest: sod the singing and vote for me because my mum died before I was born.

David Cameron picks Clare Balding as his ‘gay hero’

David Cameron has hailed TV host Clare Balding as his “gay hero” – picking her over WWII codebreaker Alan Turing.
The Conservative Prime Minister spoke in praise of the sport host,  who was awarded an OBE in 2013.
He told Attitude: “Everyone says Alan Turing, and of course he was an amazing man and I’ve seen The Imitation Game and I thought it was brilliant, but I’m going to go with Clare Balding.
“I’m a big fan. I love her enthusiasm; her zest for life… it doesn’t matter what sport she’s talking about, she can make it interesting. She’s a wonderful human being.”

"Clare Balding has been saddled with an unwanted honour after topping a poll of the funniest horse-racing gaffes of all time.

The BBC was forced to apologise when she joked that 2009 Grand National winning jockey Liam Treadwell could afford to get his teeth fixed after riding the 1 00-1 shot Mon Mome to victory.

Her gaffe - telling Treadwell " Let's see your teeth. He hasn't got the best teeth in the world, but you can afford to go and get them done now if you like" - was rated number one on the top 10 of cheeky comments about races and runners.

Other popular slips of the tongue include Brough Scott's amazement at the new stand at Doncaster where he breathlessly told viewers: "My word, look at that magnificent erection."

I do not know whether or why she is popular either, but if your "I think we have a pretty good idea" suggestion is yet another boring BBC  sexual/racial diversity driven post, then I think you are talking bo77ocks.  Hey-ho!

If you want to see a classic chat show with important and influential people being interviewed by a true professional, then treat yourself to the Face To Face dvds from the 60s.

I couldn't give a toss whether YOU think it happened or not, I am only interested in evidence as to whether it happened or not.
This is not a difficult proposition. Are you guessing or not?

What is funny is that you are wrong, but not that far out, but you wouldn't want to lose face on here, would you.
Report MisterBadger April 10, 2015 11:15 PM BST
If you say so blackbarn, I really cant't be bothered to argue with you - as I pointed out, there will be no evidence of it online but plenty of other people saw it, it was certainly mentioned on here or the horseracing forum at the time.

In essence, no, I'm not "guessing" - just because there is no "evidence" doesn't mean something didn't happen.

Why would I care about losing face on here?
Report themightymac April 10, 2015 11:20 PM BST
