Anti-UKIP protesters have invaded a pub where Nigel Farage was having a family lunch and chased him out.
The party leader was apparently with his wife and two of his children at the Queen's Head in Downe, Kent, where the incident took place.
Dozens of protesters first went to the George & Dragon, where Mr Farage has previously been pictured having a drink, before realising he was not there.
The demonstrators are said to have moved into the Queen's Head, chased the Farage family out and jumped on Mr Farage's car bonnet as he left.
He said afterwards: "I hope these 'demonstrators' are proud of themselves.
"My children were so scared by their behaviour that they ran away to hide.
"At the time of writing this a relative has gone to look for them, and they are not yet at home.
"These people are scum."
Protesters disrupted Mr Farage at the Queen's Head in Downe, Kent
Mr Farage's children with his second wife, Kirsten, are Victoria and Isabelle, who are understood to be aged 15 and 10 respectively.
Staff at the pub refused to comment, while the George & Dragon said the protesters had at first claimed they were there for a birthday party.
Dan Glass from Stand Up To UKIP, who organised the protest, said the group was in fancy dress and included migrants, HIV activists, gay people, disabled people and breastfeeding mums.
Mr Glass told Sky News the UKIP leader came out of the pub and called the protesters "sad and lonely".
Around 100 people were there singing We Are Family and dancing a conga line through the village, he added.
Mr Farage pushed through the crowd to get into his car, and was chased down the road.
Some demonstrators jumped onto the bonnet of his car.
His children are now understood to have been found and returned home.
However, responding to reports Mr Farage's children had fled, Mr Glass said: "He was sitting on his own and left on his own.
"We didn't see any kids".
UKIP is believed to have asked for taxpayer-funded security for Mr Farage during the General Election campaign, amid fears he could be regularly targeted by protesters.
It is amazing how we allow these people to bully our politicians at times
Still Mr Farage is a politician he has to learn to handle this sort of thing politically so to speak

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — A motley crew of representatives of fringe right-wing political organizations in Europe and the United States used a conference here on Sunday to denounce what they called the degradation of white, Christian traditions in the West. Their hosts used the conference to advance Russia’s effort to lure political allies of any stripe.
Railing against same-sex marriage, immigration, New York financiers, radical Islam and globalization, among other targets, one speaker after another lauded Russia and President Vladimir V. Putin as a pillar of robust, conservative, even manly values.
Jim Dowson, a British nationalist, flashed a picture on an overhead screen of Mr. Putin shirtless riding a bear. “Obama and America, they are like females. They are feminized men,” he said. “But you have been blessed by a man who is a man, and we envy that.”
If only the likes of Hitler, Putin and Dowson could just admit their desires for other men.

It was also in 2013 that Nigel Farage met Russia’s London Ambassador, Alexander Yakovenko. Two years before, Russia successfully boasted that its controversial elections had been monitored by a British MEP. It was less vocal that the identity of the MEP was BNP leader Nick Griffin.
Since then, six Ukip’s MEPs have made appearances on Russia Today, with Farage making almost monthly appearances on the state sponsored news channel.
As with the other right wing parties courted by Moscow, Farage has publicly defended Putin’s Ukraine stance, and has declared the Russian premier the world leader he most admired “as an operator”.
It would be better for everyone if Farage were regularly beaten up. He might then eventually get into his thick middle-aged skull what the policies of Putin, UKIP, BNP etc. mean in practice.

The hopeless dwarf in the Kremlin has given Donetsk's equivalents of the Krays and the Richardsons tanks, artillery and guided missiles. They shoot down an airliner killing hundreds of Dutch, Britons, Americans etc. And Farage, the BNP and the unhappy middle-aged internet heroes who think Putin is on their side reckon life would be better if the world stood back and let him blunder on.
Everywhere Putin meddles he gets it disastrously wrong.
Annexed Abkhazia and S Ossetia and has had to subsidize the regions to the tune of $20,000-plus per citizen year. Not that the citizens see any of that, as the subsidies disappear into the hands of local officials, hence the need for perpetual and greater subsidy.
Annexed Crimea, over which Russia already had harbour rights guaranteed by international treaty. Crimea has no fresh water or electricity-generation of its own and relies on deliveries of coal and piped water from Ukraine. The region has become an even deeper money pit for Russia, with conditions on the ground desperate amid electricity blackouts.
Has invaded SE Ukraine and is facing anger from the families of all the Russian troops whose deaths there are not acknowledged. Has destroyed the infrastructure of the Donbas and turned it into a bottomless money pit for the future.
The customers for his gas are cheerfully seeking new supplies amid the world energy glut and he has invested precisely nothing in diversifying Russia's economy to prepare for this. His currency's trash, his crony corporations have lost access to the capital and western expertise they need to keep the gas and oil flowing. He's been reduced to signing a deal with China to sell gas at cost, but even then only if he can find $50 billion he no longer has to build the infrastructure.
Putin is an ignorant, blundering dupe who in a civilized country would never have risen above his former job of collecting cuttings from western newspapers as a clerk in the KGB. But to Farage and to the sad and the lonely thousands of miles away he's a master operator.

But that is not the point we are supposed to live in a society of free speech, yet I see both immigrants and gays taking that away from us.
Nobody is allowed to say what they feel about these people. I do not regard this as healthy

I do not believe in violence against immigrants or gays, or blatant discrimination against immigrants or gays, as long as it is discrimination.
But I believe in the right of people to say what they feel. This is being taken away from us. We allow minorities far too much power, completely out of proportion to their numbers. Our society as a whole suffers because of this.

Yes you do ebulGery. You've previously said that legally resident tax-paying law abiding EU nationals should be denied the vote in the GE on 7th May. This means that the govt is less accountable to the people it serves and from whom it collects its taxes. It is pure xenophobia and discrimination against good decent people to hold this view.

I do not regard anyone who comes to this country and pays a bit of tax as anything but an immigrant I do not think that they have the same right as people who have lived here all their life, and their parents, parents parents etc for many generations..they are our indigenous population
The only reason you think these immigrants should get the vote, is so they can vote in even more immigrants We are being overwhelmed in our own country.
I do not regard this view as either violent or discriminatory, or even racist, it is common sense.
People in our country have a democratic right to this view without being intimidated by immigrants.
We are insane to allow this

Utter garbage. I believe in good manners, fair play, support for the under-dog, tolerance. There was a survey which showed those are core british values, and if someone comes to Britain with those values and pays their taxes and obeys the laws, they should get a say. You ebulGery believe they are not entitled to an opinion at the ballot box, and that linking someone to the indigenous population makes them more entitled to an opinion in some way. You want to take their taxes off them but for only the 'indigenous' decide how it's spent. That is unadulterated xenophobia, discrimination based purely on being an immigrant.

How could anyone with any knowledge of the 20th century imagine that a supporter of a free Ukraine is a left-winger?
Precisely, the Russian socialists (including the NKVD/KGB/FSB* trained Putin) have been trying to stamp out ukrainian culture and society and humans for almost a century! This notion is as ridiculous as the belief that the left could care less about the slavish little worker scum who keep them in power.

Well he was a very snappy dresser, was into uniforms, only married a woman on the day someone held a gun to his head, meticulous facial hair grooming, always deeply frustrated, hated the catholic church, liked camps. Unlikely Putin is though, though he's a sociopath and bad for the region probably, but technically it's true that he is a good leader in a sense, in that he backs his own country which punches above it's weight given that it's something of a basket case due to a century of communism, with nothing more than arms and primary production (mostly oil and gas) to keep it afloat. His task is made extremely easy due to the very gay obama who seems to have absolutely no comprehension whatsoever in foreign policy, either that or he is psychopathic.

You seem to be having trouble with the notion that many people who find the thought of having a man's peni5 thrust up their jacksy or balls bouncing off their chin repulsive are not necessarily themselves repressed homosexuals. It was outlawed in this country until the mid 60's and I'd imagine that at that time most people were indeed repulsed by it. Times have changed and more people are tolerant but there are still plenty of normal people who find such behaviour repellant. It doesn't bother me in the least but I respect the right of others to think differently as I respect the right of homosexuals to enjoy themselves how they like.

As a Guardian reader for over 50 years and a Downe resident for over 20 years, including eight years as landlord of the Queen’s Head, I find your article (Big trouble in middle England, G2, 24 March) disappointing, to say the least. This was in no way a political demonstration but an ill-disciplined, attention-seeking rabble with no thought of other people’s safety or enjoyment. They booked the George & Dragon under false pretences for larger numbers and purposes than it is suitable for, thereby ruining normal customers’ afternoon enjoyment.
A large number of families use this pub and the Queen’s Head for a peaceful Sunday lunch and social gatherings. Young children with their parents (including the Farage children) were terrified by these events. Mr Farage remained calm during these so-called demonstrations and certainly had no minders, heavies or aides with him. Your correspondent omits the fact that the driver of the hired coach refused to transport the rabble back to Bromley, worried about their behaviour and no doubt his safety. Also, the article does not take into consideration the damage caused to the business and reputation of these well-run pubs. I’m not, of course, going to stop buying or reading the Guardian, but hope for a return to more balanced and objective reporting. Alan Dear Downe, Kent

This was physical intimidation of Mr Farage, not for the first time. People cannot defeat him in argument so they resort to these bullying tactics.
One problem with our society is that we are too fair, too tolerant and too lenient. Aggressive minorities use this to intimidate the peaceful majority. They do it physically, politically, through the media, economically and in other ways. This does nothing for democracy in this country. I have not forgotten the disgraceful scenes when Nick Griffin appeared on question time.
If we compare us to Russia , who are nothing like as tolerant or lenient, we find they have less trouble . They just bang these people up end of.
I believe in free speech, but just that speech. Incredibly we actually take this away from the majority in order to protect these aggressive minorities. Everybody should be able to say what they feel.

In the last 60 years we have allowed vast immigration to this country but have never allowed any democratic voice against it. So we are not a democracy at all really, and I think we have also gone mad on this issue.

Moisty dear, many British companies prefer employing a high percentage of EU workers. Go to many Distribution Warehouses and you will see almost a 50/50 split(British/Foreign ) but 50% of that 50/50 split is full time permanent and 50% is temp agency.
Take away that foreign workforce and what will the company do? employ the unmotivated locals? who should be on the books in the first place. Why aren`t they? The turn over of staff is like a conveyor belt as many EU workers go back home after a few weeks.
