Dawkins is everything that was once good about the English.

you mean decades ago when the vast majority were christian or jewish etc? but not now that the majority have no religion?

secretly he's pleased with islamic states destroying all traces of religions but one, he banking that when islam is the last one left it will somehow "come right", a bit like what stalin did.

Aren't atheists allowed to appreciate history and architecture?
Report brendanuk1 March 23, 2015 10:43 AM GMT
Atheists dont have much history, they can glance over in awe and wonder at the theist history though Grin

You don't have to believe in an alien eaves-dropper to appreciate history and art. It belongs to us all.

Aren't atheists allowed to appreciate history and architecture?

not if it threatens the doctrine, occasionally some buildings may be left but will be repurposed and have most historical meaning erased from them, and of course any traditions and adherents will be also erased, as in most atheist states such as china, ussr, or briefly spain

The Red Terror in Spain (Spanish: Terror Rojo)[3] is the name given by historians to various acts of violence committed from 1936 until the end of the Spanish Civil War "by sections of nearly all the leftist groups".[4][5] News of the rightist military coup in 1936 unleashed a social revolutionary response, and no republican region escaped revolutionary and anticlerical violence - though in the Basque Country this was minimal.[6] The violence consisted of the killing of tens of thousands of people (including 6,832[7] members of the Catholic clergy, the vast majority in the summer of 1936 in the wake of the military rising), as well as attacks on landowners, industrialists, and politicians, and the desecration and burning of monasteries and churches.[7]

Of course it's something of a myth the terror resulted from the 36 coup as the terror had begun years earlier, though the coup was probably partly in response to the terror.

It was a rhetorical question, actually.

And, as an atheist, I will appreciate history and architecture whether it was made by Christians, Muslim, HIndus, Pagans or whoever.  Thanks.

I challenge anyone not to be in awe, standing in a great cathedral such as St Paul's or that Catholic one in Rome.  Hardly surprising that people used to believe in that stuff in the old days.
