What time is it happening?

Looking forward to it, remember the last one well. Going to be cloudy here in Sheffield but interesting to see how dark it may get.

I'll be up early for it. Watching it from my balcony.

I'm guessing taking pics on your phone or digicam will be a waste of time.

Bit early to be trying to find the winner in this, IMO.

Will it get darker and more dismal in Stoke than normal?

If you were smart, you'd book a domestic flight say LondonAberdeen, and time it so you'd most likely be above the clouds at 9:30 :)

Actually, seriously, I think being in a window seat on the correct side during an eclipse would be a pretty awesmome experience.

Wont there be another eclipse in the world before 2090? So you could just fly there to see the next one

I wouldn't be surprised if some people are going to blind themselves or burn out their camera sensors.

Camera + telephoto + looking at the sun might not be a great idea.

100% eclipse, a "b*lls deep eclipse" as Patrick Moore used to call it on ths Sky at Night.

It was post watershed and nobody watched, he could get away with that sort of thing, it was often just filth.

A bit of cloud may actually help so long as you can see the Sun's disc through it. It's fully cloudy where I am but I'm still hopeful.

Fascinating to see where I am. Grey cloud everywhere. Extraordinary, almost looks like… about 9.30am yesterday when it was also cloudy.

Not a cloud in the sky here in Swansea, perfect view of the eclipse, fwiw.

I want my money back - all that happened was it got gloomy - they are talking up like mad on sky   YAWN!!!!

Well, how was it for you?  I personally felt humbled, the whole thing was awe-inspiring. Insert another cliche here.

I can hardly wait for the next one in 2090.

A short distance from our house a large group of men had gathered together to watch it beside a field where some teenage schoolgirls were playing a hockey match. These men were a bit daft in my opinion because not one of them had brought those special viewing glasses you have to wear to protect your eyes.

As expected in God's Own, our Maker provided for us a rare glorious morning in order that his chosen people could see his work in it's full majesty. Barely a cloud sullied the sky.
And from this position of near perfect viewing conditions, I can confirm that it was a bit sh1t, distinctly underwhelming.

Bizarrely there was a very small hole in the dirty clouds here up north around 9-20 to 9-30 . I could see the moon through it covering the corner of the sun.

I wont bother getting out of bed next time.

Total eclipses are worth watching

Todays 90% one was a waste of time. No different to a gloomy day

I got to see it in the end but with no special glasses. My eyes got adjusted but it was very bright and I'm sure I'll suffer from Welders blindness. I stood beside an old man I know and I saved his sight. As we were watching it behind the clouds, we were discussing how hard it was to see anything... "I'll go and get my binoculars" was his response! I wonder how many daft feckers thought as he did and done damage to their eyes today. Thankfully I persuaded him it was a bad idea

1999 was a much better eclipse but it was a bigger % covered, guess that's why it didn't go dark although I noticed a dimming in brightness.

I was speaking to a guy from Faroe Island and he said it was spectacular. Seeing a total eclipse is on my bucket list and I'd like to see one even more now. There's one in 2 years that tranverses the whole of the US but the 2026 is total in Benidorm. Fancy a week on the Costas

There's also one in 2027 visible in Egypt and totality is about 6 minutes - near the maximum it can be.

Next year there is a transit of Mercury - not something that will interest casual observers, but a must for astronomy geeks

they should have these eclipses later in the year imo when the weather is more reliable

think you had to be right up in the Faroes tbf ,London was always a non runner .

Eclipse was the greatest racehorse in turf history.

Total Eclipse of the Moon to look forward to later in the year although it's well past Chit Chatters bed time.
