Yes I remember those; four feet high polished wood speakers with a tiny four inch diameter speaker inside.
And a piece of concrete inside to weight it down and make you think you were getting something for your money.

If the OP means 'hi-fi' 'speakers...I would say that much depends upon age, make, model and condition. Big 'speakers have certain advantages over smaller models. This works both ways, of course.

I have binned them, i doubt i will notice as i rarely get to turn them up full blast.
