Very sad. I grew up as a young lad watching Star Trek, and Mr Spock was a profound, ground breaking character. The chemistry between Kirk & Spock was a TV (or movie) classic.
RIP.

It's not unexpected, but I feel a lot sadder about this than I'd have thought I would It's illogical.

That made me smile. A lot of writers can't express their true feelings with their wives. Rather than have a vent at home, and risk harmony and completely losing sexy time chances, they put their feelings into the scripts they write.
I think Patrick Marber did this when he wrote Closer, also Neil LaBute does it in his writings.

An opportunity for the writers on The Big Bang Theory to make use of that sample of Nimoy's DNA which Sheldon possesses.
