by the way i remember Mr Ed when i was a kid..............or maybe that was repeats...

Chestnut trained by Roger Curtis, stayed for ever, won the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter. Years earlier iron man Ray Goldstein had got it up in a Plumpton novices' chase to beat an odds-on front runner of Michael Robinson's that definitely wasn't expected to get caught. They were carrying 'em out to the station on stretchers that afternoon.

It was a great programme. Gentle, sweet, charming and often hilarious.

I've seen some of the programmes recently. Great family entertainment.

The wife was very tasty, too.

An invaluable part of my  childhood. Along with Saturday  afternoon  wrestling,followed by Jimmy Clitheroe on the wireless(radio).

I loved JC, you can catch a lot of his shows on youtube.

I'm giving the Paul Temples another listening. Nice with your feet up, a hot coffee and buttered scone.
