No doubt they did nothing outside of what the rules allow,
anyway Mr Straw should be in The Hague on trial for complicity
in the invasion of Iraq war crime.
Report akabula February 23, 2015 12:40 AM GMT
Who decided it was a crime?
Report howard February 23, 2015 1:15 PM GMT
Breeding that's right. Straw £5000 for a speech while the people he represents (Blackburn )eat beans on toast from foodbanks. Something more than voting is needed in this country.
Report The Leopard February 23, 2015 1:29 PM GMT
£5000 per day....I thought we all made that here !

Rifkind is a Grade A khoont of the first order

Always has been, always will be.

and very close to Leon Brittain

just saying
Report Hound-Dog-2 February 23, 2015 3:09 PM GMT
Malcolm Rifkind so defiant he has done nothing wrong.  And Straw was a man hopelessly out of his depth, and also trying to say he has done nothing wrong here, but fell for it hook, line and sinker !  All summed up in one word GREED.
Report Burton-Brewers February 23, 2015 3:45 PM GMT
well they did say the 90's were making a comeback
Report Sica Dan February 23, 2015 4:14 PM GMT
Interesting that Mr Straw seemed to think a seat In the House of Lords
after the election was a sure thing. Of course £300 a day there is
chickenfeed for a man who charges £5k a day.
Report Burton-Brewers February 23, 2015 4:27 PM GMT
according to the news they were both told they were going to the Lords

Report brendanuk1 February 23, 2015 5:53 PM GMT
they sent letters to 12 likely mps with 'extensive outside interests' and most dodged it. Just shows how stupid these pair are, didnt even do cursory checks
Report mobo February 23, 2015 6:18 PM GMT
and you wonder why the chilcott enquiry has been delayed till after the election

anything to avoid giving ammunition to greens and ukip

the whole political edifice is corrupt, not just one or two of them!!!
Report Lee Ho Fooks February 23, 2015 6:46 PM GMT
Big problem here, they can't do the usual "it's them not us gov" (although the bigots will try to show that "they are more guilty than us")
Report akabula February 23, 2015 6:58 PM GMT
Both are claiming they did nowt wrong and the presenter on ITV news says they've not broken any rules.
I'm confused, what are the issues here? Mind you Jonathan Aitken pleaded his case nicely. Laugh

If it falls to me to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted journalism in our country with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play, so be it. I am ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it. My fight begins today. Thank you and good afternoon.

The simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play. You gotta love that.

For probably the one and only time I agree with Milliband:

He's calling for a ban on any kind of freelancing by MPs.

My MP has 3 additional consultancies/directorships as well as his MP's salary.

Scandalous.

some sort of sick joke how they refer to each other as honourable members when large numbers of politicians are as dishonest as the day is long

your average man in the street wouldn't dream of pulling the sort of strokes or other ways of pilfering the public purse than mps seems to think they are entitled to
