They could make lunches, wash the cars and clean the houses of the hard working Eastern Europeans who are keeping this country going

Why not bring back the work house why we are about it
The mess this country is in, is nothing to do with our young people, it their elders who have messed it up |

God its a pity we don"t grow cotton here , could have them out in the cotton fields. So if you are an unemployed teenager you have three years of slavery to look forward to either that or become a criminal, good to see the old tories keep there voters onside.

They'll have an extra incentive to find a job.
In any case, they can relinquish their benefits and make £100 per day on here. |

I would make Cameron do community service...be more useful than the job he is doing now
Failure to clear our deficit as he promised, good enough for me |

Wish someone would force my neighbour to work for her benefits. Because she is too lazy to work so she would have to be made homeless and someone nice could move in instead. And her kids would be taken off her and given to a nice foster home, giving them a chance in life, cos they don't have a fkin chance with that pig for a mum.

About time too.
Enough of this "something for nothing" society. And before someone pipes up yet again about bankers, what exactly are the work-shy contributing? |
|
By:
Well they're not losing billions..
|

By:
If these "community jobs" exist... Why can't the govt just make them JOBS and pay the potential wages they would bring to the councils, etc to provide employment, thus diverting the money from benefits to wages?
There are loads of reasons actually, among them: 1. There aren't enough jobs for the people who aren't working. 2. It's easy politicking, particularly for many forum users and C5 viewers. 3. All this news deflects attention away from other bigger losses of our money. 4. It'll be quite easy to police, because all the genuinely hard-up non-chavs will be easiest to catch out and they will make the Govt figures look 'good' whilst the chavs and scroungers will still find ways to evade the work and sanctions. Still it should make many of you quite happy that the return of the Workhouse is nearly completed. Next? Debtor's prison. Once again. Most unemployed people aren't Work-shy. Some are. Still let's not that get in the way of indignant and ignorant ideals, eh? |

How could they ever g2d, when they're usually sat at home with a brew or spliff watching Jez Kyle?
|
|
By:
Ye could just as easy be talking about the City of London nobrots only they do it in the office.. And of course get paid vast sums to lose money with no consequences..
I missed my vocation.. |
|
By:
Are the people who watch Jez Kyle all the same as those (there must be dozens!) who appear on the show?
|

Btw, Wes, i've got no probs with the workshy being made to work. Although how you do that without genuine peeps who want to work being collatoral damage is a major issue.
But when you target the easy and less fortunate all the time through successive measures and leave the harder targets (and friends) alone, then it's just bullying. But of course Middle England love that.. |

"Bullying" ffs.
![]() A much over-used word these days. |

But apt in this case.

In any war, there will always be innocent victims unfortunately.
The problem is that for too long, many people have regarded benefits as a way of life rather than a temporary safety net. |

It's still a drop in the ocean compared to other 'fiddles' going on. But then again this isn't about money..

Why not create real jobs out of the work they are expected to do and get people who want to work off the dole.
By all means attack those who don't want to work but forcing them to do community work will mean less real jobs in the long run. |

The problem is that for too long, many people have regarded benefits as a way of life rather than a temporary safety net. well if there is no work they do not have a choice, they are not starving themselves to death to suit you I doubt they do contribute much if there is no work for them and I will pipe up about the bankers, they got into this mess, so they can get us out If I had my way, they would not be left with a shirt on their back or any shoes o their feet and would be looking at 4 walls with a barred door and window until they pay back what they cost us! |
|
By:
ebul,
that's precisely why I said many and not everyone |
|
By:
Could you also explain why many of those on benefits, who apparently have it really tough, can afford to keep having more and more children
|
|
By:
?
|
|
By:
i agree with Studyform
either jobs exist or they don't |
|
By:
Love the juxtaposition here between saying that not everyone on benefits is a bad person and there a just a minority who are bad who give them a bad name, sitting alongside wholesale thick as p1gsh1t leftie banker bashing saying all bankers are bad. Obviously not a single neuron in there capable of firing to alert them that there may be a similarity in thickness when either side holds such angry ignorant views.

It isn't as simple as saying that jobs either exist or don't exist. Capitalism is cyclical in nature with peaks and troughs. During the run up to the peak the country was flooded with foreign workers with various excuses trotted out why the indiginous benefits claimants couldn't do the work. So you have people who have lived their whole lives without ever having contributed a single thing to society over decades.
Now they may be lost causes but I for one refuse to believe that young people under 30 who are currently unemployed and working towards unemployability are lost causes. So if the work isn't there now it will likely be in the next few years. You don't run a marathon with no training and you will be lucky to get a job lying in bed. Get these suckers out there doing anything. Just make sure they keep to a work schedule for when a real job presents itself. No contribution. No money. |
|
By:
The fact there isn't the jobs shouldn't matter. Make the scroungers get out of bed and do something for a few hours a day five days a week. great idea
|
|
By:
Well they're not losing billions..
What is the value to people in getting them into a routine of work and moving on to something with their lives? You might have given up hope but why try and drag others down to your level? |

I've read this comment a few times but it still doesn't make sense. If you want to create "real jobs" out of what these people do then that means the jobs aren't there and so whose job are they going to be taking? There are large parts of our cities which are eye sores which nobody is now paid to clean or will be in the future so I'd have thought that in addition to helping these people develop a work ethic they can be assisted to develop community pride and cohesion. Help and old lady with her shopping. Cut and old boys lawn. There's no end of possibilities and another really great thing is that old lady or old man may know somebody who is looking for a good honest grafter. Remember boys, thems that snores don't open doors. ![]() |
