Hi
My mother recently had a very minor car accident whilst she was driving with no other parties involved.
She is fine but the car needs some repairs.
She has had a call from these people but she was wise enough to realise things were not right, especially when the caller stated the third party accepted liability but she told the caller the accident had no third party and she ended the call , today they rang again.
I have one concern over this, this information regarding accident could I believe only come from three companies her insurance companŷ, the repair garage or her car dealers (new car).
Can anyone put some light on who would have I reckon sold her information to the claims advisory service because only three companies where involved.
I would like to know as I will take it up with them as I feel annoyed as mum is in her late 70s and could have got turned over.
Thanks in advance.

Did they know the details of the Accident ,these mobs just ring people at random, hoping that the person may have been involved in accident ,hence the misinformation regarding a 3rd party ...

@casemoney may be right. I got a call just last week about my no-fault accident. As I've not had an accident of any sort, I just hung up. It was one of those robot calls which is transferred to a human when you speak.

The trouble is, in telling them there was no third party, your mum has also confirmed to them that there was an accident, so doubtless they will call again. You could look at enrolling her in the TPS opt-out system.

And tbh even if one of the companies involved did pass your mother's details on, it's a bit late to do anything about it. It is not a reversible process.

This year so far I have had 5 or 6 calls from these chancers. I asked them which car it is as I have three (I don't I only have one) and asked them what the registration number was so I know which car they are talking about. They always say that information is classified under the data protection act Laugh I start laughing at them and then they hang up.

Almost as bad as "I'm calling about the problem with your computer"

"which one, I have 2"

"the one with MS windows"

"they both have MS windows"

end.

Best was my late father who used to say to call callers

"just a minute, I'll go and check (computer, car insurance or whatever)"

And then he'd go and make himself a cup of tea.  And when he went back to the phone, they'd gone ... and he'd have a nice cup of tea.
