Report ZEALOT February 9, 2015 5:52 PM GMT
He said it should be ok

But just thinking of bank statements etc etc and when I do
my tax return
Report i_agree_with_nick February 9, 2015 5:54 PM GMT
All payments should be itemised on your payslip
Report HH Sultan Vinegar February 9, 2015 6:00 PM GMT
if you're concerned about your tax return then your pure income is on your P60

We are all self employed - we don't get no payslips - never have done .
Report i_agree_with_nick February 9, 2015 6:08 PM GMT
If you're self-employed then you don't have a "boss".

Do you issue invoices?
Report ZEALOT February 9, 2015 6:10 PM GMT
We are classed as self employed but it's more false self employment tbh .
We work set hours etcetcetc

Cos not on a big wage some of housing gets paid

But if say £350 goes in ( wages + expenses ) they may think its wages whereas the extra £100 is for fuel !!!
Report i_agree_with_nick February 9, 2015 6:21 PM GMT
Tax is done on a self-assessment basis but the expenses should accounted for on an invoice or expense claim form / payslip.

A record of business mileage and the rate claimed per mile should be available. That or receipts.

The housing wanted proof of income

I got a letter off my boss giving my last 10 payments ranging from £220- £250

But now they want bank statements  and most of my payments are £350 ish  ( added fuel )

Is it ok just to say the added is fuel expense , I don't know how it works ??
Report casemoney February 9, 2015 10:22 PM GMT
They will prob ask for receipts for your fuel, etc ,the Taxman certainly would ,was self employed for a few years myself
they wanted to see the lot ..The housing will class the payments as income unless you can prove otherwise ,you could say
some extra work was done on the weeks they have requested ...
Report Dobbo February 9, 2015 11:41 PM GMT
HMRC will not accept self employed status if you are working for a single employer ,clearly because you are not self employed and your boss is trying to avoid paye and nic.

OP - you might find some instructional videos on YouTube Plain
Report Ramruma February 10, 2015 10:42 AM GMT
I've no idea what I'm talking about but OP should find someone who has because at the moment it looks like a toss-up between being done for benefit fraud or tax evasion. If there is any evidence the petrol money ("expenses") was actually spent on petrol, like receipts or even mileage, that might help a bit.
