Weird.

Twin Peaks meets Fargo meets Lost meets Nodic Noir meets Killer B Movie.  Throw in a few swingers.

Not sure what to make of it.  Had to use sub-titles, poor sound quality and mumbling.

Spiral is the best thing on TV atm imo.

Is there a new series of Spiral or you watching old ones?
Report sixtwosix January 31, 2015 12:23 AM GMT
New series of Spiral been on Beeb4  for last 3 weeks .....I put a thread up before it started.

Fortitude was enjoyable ,but like Mr Ecclestone's other current show The Leftovers .....a bit baffling.
Report Ozymandius January 31, 2015 12:26 AM GMT
Series 5 is on BBC3 sat night. As far as I know its the latest one.
Report Ozymandius January 31, 2015 12:26 AM GMT
all eps still on bbc iplayer.
Report bodil January 31, 2015 12:31 AM GMT
Ecclestone dead in episode 1? (strictly 2, I suppose)  Going to be lots of flashbacks.  Or a miraculous Lazarus-style thingee.  Dead mammoths are 2 a penny in reality.  Ancient viruses?  Yawn.  I liked it though.  Watching Tucci trying to make sense of his deus ex machina role worth the admission fee alone.  With a cast like that how can you lose?  Hope we don't find out.
Report Ozymandius January 31, 2015 12:34 AM GMT
I thought I saw Eccelstone on a chat show saying that he hoped to be back for Season 2???
Report curious-cat January 31, 2015 3:44 AM GMT
I liked it.

had to go back over it as the constant scene switches made it difficult to know the minor characters.
Report Ibrahima Sonko January 31, 2015 10:29 AM GMT
Maybe a stab in the dark, but just maybe  that eccelstone may not be dead yet. ie he is not finnish.

When i mean dead, i mean still has a part to play.

Agree, spiral is top notch.

Thanks for the heads up, completely forgot about this. Will check it out on the dodgy box.

Completely agree about Spiral, every series has been excellent. Well acted and written. Continues the fine programming of European drama on beeb 4 on Saturday nights. May even consider buying a tv licence now!

Hopefully a new series of The Killing or Wallender will follow.
Report twonky February 1, 2015 2:08 PM GMT
Just watched the 1st episodes......and it can only get better. Acting is quite average, but the scenery looks superb.

Ps, Jewish series called Hostages starts in a fortnight on beeb 4.
Report sixtwosix February 1, 2015 2:37 PM GMT
Watched Jackpot again last night  , 84 minutes of insanity , wonderful stuff.
The Hollywood obsession with making every film 150 minutes or more whether it is needed or nit as a selling feature is a huge turn off .
Report sixtwosix February 1, 2015 2:39 PM GMT
No more The Killing or Wallender , but The Bridge series 3 on it's way. Minus Martin though , think he objected to the route they were taking his character.

Les Revenants series 2 also finally being filmed. They won't be able to continue the story though as the children will be have grown too much , without recasting.
Report MisterBadger February 1, 2015 7:08 PM GMT
I enjoyed it, spectacular scenery, atmospheric and interesting... but, as someone has already observed, the death of dr who must mean multiple "the missing"-style flashbacks, just hoping it doesn't into WALOFS; promising so far, though

was there really any need for the Pig Plain
Report Pre-Fat-Low-Fat-Foods February 1, 2015 9:54 PM GMT
Thought it was decent, will definitely stick with it.

The Leftovers was brilliant.

Report sixtwosix February 6, 2015 10:07 AM GMT
Very dull episode last night .
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 7, 2015 8:32 AM GMT
Stinking episode, one more of that then it is finnish.

Told us nothing, the only important point was why was the cop in the house at the time of the crime, then that point was not discussed.
Report MisterBadger February 7, 2015 4:27 PM GMT
might not have told us much but raised a few questions - obviously they're not going to reveal all in the second week are they?
Report sixtwosix February 7, 2015 5:37 PM GMT
Hardly an excuse for an hour of tedium.
Padding dramas out with these type of episodes is what gets them canned.
9 episodes to go  , there will be nobody watching by then if it is like episode 2.
Report JOCI Club February 7, 2015 6:23 PM GMT
Found Spiral on catch-up TV and currently downloading episodes 1-8. ExcitedCool
Report sixtwosix February 7, 2015 7:13 PM GMT
Joci , I don't think it is as good as some of the previous series , but still better than most of the drivel on the box.
Report Dan Chipowski February 7, 2015 9:29 PM GMT
First episode was just about tolerable, the second was complete sh!te.
Report MC Roller February 9, 2015 7:56 PM GMT
Watched the 2nd episode last night, boring.

A word about Hostages mentioned above. I watched the American version, and it was the most far fetched pile of shyte I've ever seen. I ended up treating it like a comedy. No surprise it was shelved after one series, it just didn't work for me.
Report maleuk01. February 9, 2015 8:16 PM GMT
The show so far is trying to be too clever for its own good.

The storyline isn't going forward as no one has a fecking clue what's going on. (well I don't)

As prev poster said, one more episode if things aren't moving forward ill jack it in too.
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 15, 2015 12:23 PM GMT
walofs

Every fooker in the town is a suspect, nearly 4 hours of nothing.

Sky should stick to importing yank stuff.
Report sixtwosix February 15, 2015 12:45 PM GMT
Very disappointing , last two episodes have treaded water ....I won't be wasting any more time on this rubbish.

total garbage, and a waste of a good cast

I'm not sure if there is nothing going on, or if there is something going on but I'm paying so little attention it's not registering
Report Thin and Crispy February 15, 2015 6:42 PM GMT
Hopefully a new series of The Killing or Wallender will follow.

Wallender got Alzehiemers so might need a bit longer than an hour to solve a case.
Report morpteh mackem February 15, 2015 9:43 PM GMT
I think its ok but as alluded to above , trying to be too clever at times. certainly not warrant all the hype  I take it a lot of money has been invested in it.

Started off ok, a bit **** now.

I have watched the whole of broadchurch since last weeks fortitude though. Completely different class. The way tonights fortitude ended i doubt there's anything good left to come, looked a complete goner all episode.
Report sixtwosix March 7, 2015 4:50 PM GMT
That was as poor as tv drama gets , and with the cast list very disappointing.
Won't be wasting any other minute on this pretentious drivel.
Report Mc Moonbeam March 7, 2015 7:51 PM GMT
agree enjoyed the first few episodes but had to switch off at the start of episode 5 (which is rare)
It's all just too weird & distorted for me with no worthwhile storyline & felt physically painful to watch as if I was being mentally abused at my own leisure
Plus can't see any decent ending to it all but definitely won't be going back for any more Cry
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 7, 2015 9:03 PM GMT
going to plus it for the rest of the series just in case someone posts something good about it eventually.
