me and my mate used do placepots together about 15 years ago......every friday i finished at 12 so it was my turn to pick the placepot.....this one friday i missed the first race so had to do a bet called the place 5.........a kind of forerunner of the quadpot.......phoned my mate with the selections......i went down in the last but one leg..........put 2 selections against the odds on fav.........i was a bit gutted as i would have had the pot for £4.80 ....the place 5 payed only £42 but if my horse had come 2nd  instead of 3rd behind the odds on fav the divi would probably have been 4 times the £42 so i was gutted....i met my mate that night and he slated me for not putting in the jolly...i would have put the fav in has one he told me ...fair enough and knowing him i thought he probably would have......on the saturday  used to pick a placepot at his house...picked the pot and on the way out i noticed a placepot slip...........it was from the previous day .....he had the placepot and i scribbled  numbers  down of his placepot....  he had gone down in the same race as me with the same 2 horses.........i learned then its always best to tell the truth.....or youll get caught out
