The speed limit for vans unless car derived vans is 60 on a dual carriageway (might be other criteria) I drive a dual carriageway every weekday and not many van drivers know that.

Very unlucky to get caught. I see vans do 85+ all the time on dual carriageways. |

By strange co-incidence it was only this afternoon I learned of that rule. My brother-in-law is a traffic cop and was telling me they're having a campaign on this at the moment and raking it in as the vast majority of van owners are not aware of this restriction.

No very good at this copying and pasting are you the leopard
‘car-derived’ vans Most vans are under 7.5 tonnes laden (loaded) weight and must follow the speed limits for goods vehicles of the same weight. This includes Ford Transit vans. ‘Car-derived’ vans weigh no more than 2 tonnes when loaded and are goods vehicles based on car designs, such as a Ford Fiesta van or Vauxhall Astra van. Check your log book under ‘body type’ if you’re not sure. |

on the same strech of road about 6 years ago i was driving a long wheel base mercedes, twice the size of my current van an got caught doing 79. police said i was doing 79 in a 70 so i am a bit confused as they are now saying its a 60 limit for my van. also looked into it a bit and read that cause the dual carriagway had a central reservation speed limit for my van would be 70.

Dual carriagway with bollards down middle of road, maybe = Single carriageway which would be 60.

This may explain it. It's not easy depends on if it is a slip road only dual carriageway or has crossings.
Dual carriageway is a two way divided road with a central barrier that you are able to cross from side roads. Motorway is a two way divided road with a central barrier containing slip roads. It is only possible to access a motorway via slip roads and there is no crossway traffic. |

You will need to get onto google maps and hope it is a slip road only stretch.
