Co-Codamol

used to a couple of years ago but they weren't strong enough for my needs

What was?

I had them a while back, had some real weird dreams on them man.

I take Tramadol now, not brilliant but a bit better than co-codamol

One of my favourite (legal) drugs.

Two summers ago, had a minor swollen disc but enough that the "pain shot" was so much, I felt nothing and my body shut down (passed out) to avoid the pain.  My wife thought I was trying to get out of going to a wedding.

Got prescribed over the phone, she left for the wedding at 1:30PM, I took them on the floor in front of the television....didn't wake/move until she came home at midnight.

And, yes, at night, dreams become pretty impressive (HD for me).

Last summer, minor tear on a tendoin in my shoulder (skate boarding :)) so have some on stand-by but only take at night.

Injectable Tramadol is the way forward. Quite splendid.

Another time I had problems with my back I was prescribed something else and bl00dy hell I couldn't get out of bed in the morning. It was like having a bad hangover every morning - I cant remember what they were but my GP said they were personally too strong for him

60mg of codeine is quite a lot.

over the counter is 8mg a tablet and a couple of those and you feel the nice warm sinky sleepy feeling (if you're not taking them regularly of course)

maybe go a buy a pack of those from the chemist (the cheap generics are under £2.50 a packet) if you don't want to get completely zonked out.

I had them when I was suffering from kidney stones. They are quite strong.

I'm taking then for the same reason treble, The are taking the edge off the pain, but not completely. As mentioned it's different for different people, Can't wait to get this fcking tooth out as soon as the abscess has been dealt with by the antibiotics.

I must have been taking different ones. I took the dispersable ones as well as the tabs. Took 20 a day sometimes and never even touched the pain.

Cervical spine damage btw..

Co-Codamol tablets contain codeine, which is addictive. 

I took the maximum of 8 a day for muscle and skeletal pain, and just carried on...for 2 years.

They will cause constipation, but no two people have the same diet, so it affects them differently.

Not long before Christmas 2013 I went to the quacks and told him how constipated I was. He prescribed Senna tablets. I read the label - take one at night with a glass of water.

Did that for 3 nights - nothing happened. On the box it said 'Phone your doctor before taking this medication for a 4th consecutive night.'  So I phoned the surgery. Doctor was out on call, so I got put through to a 'Health Care Professional' and told him what it said on the box.   

'They say that to cover themselves' he said 'just carry on taking one a night until they work'

So I did, on the morning after tablet number facking 8, I sat on the khazi, and to quote my fellow cockney Micky Flanagan 'With the gentlest of pushes... the world fell out of my arse.'   

I was in and out of the khazi all day (more in than out),  got dehydrated, dizzy and spent most of Christmas in bed, feeling dog rough.

I cut down the C-Codamol to 6 a day for two weeks, then 4 a day for a month, then 2 at night for a month, then 1 at night for 2 months, and I'm now on none at all, and in pain all day.

Fack the tablets.

Every time I've phone the surgery since, if the Dr is out, I put the phone down. Fack the HCP's and their advice.

Dreams while taking Co-Codamol were lucid, and at times, not that nice. I don't know anybody else who does it, and I can't be the only one - I have the strange ability to know when I'm dreaming, so I can get into bad situations and just carry on.

I've crashed cars, been shot, fallen off cliffs, bridges and boats, strangely, in my dreams I can swim. I've been set on fire, and the weirdest one was being disintegrated in slow motion from the feet up. I was okay until my wedding tackle was close to going, then I woke up.

A man has to know his limitations

my dentist always recommended taking co-codamol in rotation with ibuprofen. it works, for most toothache in my experience. Doesn't get near spinal disc pain or sciatica tho. Not in my case anyway.

Antibiotics (usually followed by root canal work or extraction) are the only real treatment for tooth abscess, I was always advised to take Paracetamol every 4 hours) then Aspirin (also every 4 hours - but 2 hours after the paracetamol). The pain should start to ease after about 48 hours. Co-Codamol (instead of the paracetamol) seems a better idea to me. Though once the pain has eased you don't need to take them. They are only pain relief and do nothing for the abscess.
I hope it gets better soon for you, treble. Horrible pain.

I thought the pill of choice for Sciatica was Diclofenac.
Although none of them really ever does the trick and so many coditions are painful

I went up to Kings College emergency dentist last night as the pain was so bad. They said I had an abscess and gum inflammation. I can only continue with the co-codamol for pain relief, but they loaded me up with Amoxycillin and Metronizadle antibiotics. Do antibiotics help the pain when they start killing the infection?

Weak as p1ss was taking them with self administered morphine whilst in hospital for 2 weeks,i was moaning in agony for days only decent doses of morphine relieve pain..

I have an addiction to co codomal tablets 30/50 which used to be called co proxomol. I would say its a relatively mild one though but I have had it for quite a few years now. Normally I would take between 2-4 a day. Try my best to keep it to 2. Usually in the mornings when you get a really relaxed feeling.

I simply need to have some of these tablets in the house even if I did not end up taking any some days. You can buy them over the counter in pharmacies in Spain by the way but they are prescription only in the uk. I don't get my tablets from the doctors. I buy them myself.

I am actually down to one tablet at the present time which is like gold dust. Got two boxes of 100 in each a while ago and that's all I have left.

Best advice for anyone - don't stay on them too long. They are very addictive. I started them when I was prescribed them for a toothe problem. Nowadays I don't think doctors will keep anyone on them for longer than a few months unless you have a long term medical problem which you need them for.

Personally never experienced any side affects with these tablets. It did work to ease my pain when I was prescribed them initially but now they are totally an addictive drug which gives me a very mild and mellow relaxed feeling for a few hours. They are good for pain too though.

spanish drugs are the bollox, uk are weak as pish

So happy. After just four doses of a two antibiotics combo, the pain is literally unnoticeable.

Now I've just got to get over the tiredness. Haven't slept since Sunday due to pain and insomnia through packing up drinking.

amoxycillan has always worked for me for an abcess

I'm taking Amoxycillin and Metronizadole. Quite a tiring combo though.

Good that they've worked so quickly, treble.
Do NOT drink any alcohol mate.
Amoxycillin is a Penicillin and very good for abscesses as is the double whammy of using Metronidozole (Flagyl). BUT, metronidazole (Flagyl) will make you sick if you drink while taking it - and possibly for a couple of days afterwards.

Cheers Study. The Metronizadole is not very nice at all tbh. So far, side effects have included tiredness, back pain, headache, dizziness and rapid heart rate. Only got to take them till Thursday though.

I'm on my 2nd lot as well treble, Amoxycillan didn't quite clear it, so it's Metronizadole same as you, a 5 day course, seems to be working.

If you take too much Amoxycillin you can become immune to it.

But you won't know until you get an infection, and after two weeks of swallowing tablets, you still have it.

Treble -- i took 8 cocadimol a day , the max permitted, for over 2 years --
For pain relief -- before being switched to a different drug.
They say they are addictive, but i never craved any more
And I stopped on one day and never had since, or craved them since.
Always ensure you have something ( to eat) before taking them
Even if its a piece of toast .. Or they can cause you other health problems.
I was worried as time went bye on them and voiced them with my doctor,
She said she had one lady patient who has taken cocodimol for 33 years
With no ill effects.
