I've never been to an Asda before, I've just looked up where my nearest one is and it's in Rye Lane, Peckham. I think I'll give it a miss as I'm not exactly a huge fan of that South London suburb at the best of times nor Asda's parking policy. I don't drink Guinness either by way so I wouldn't be saving anything on my weekly grog bill.

What right do they have on issuing you a ticket if you park in the "with child" space when you haven't got any kids....

'with child' has no legal basis (afaik) - it's just paint on the ground and ideal for Jagwar parking.

Yes. It discriminates between self-centred 'I'm alright Jack'ists and people who have a genuine need for a wider parking space to facilitate the entry, or exit, of children from the vehicle.

Hmmm. I must admit that it didn't occur to me to draw up a list of the varying requirements for such places or, indeed, the location of them.
Personally, I find it refreshing that the rule should be enforced stringently at all times of day regardless of distances involved. Far less complicated than having to produce some sort of sliding scale which would always be open to argument or abuse. Keep it simple. |

I watched a training video decades ago. We saw a scruffy skinhead running along a pavement and shoving a lady roughly whilst appearing to grab at her handbag. He was actually trying to save from injury by a falling object as we discovered in the later scenes.
I'm a pooper gentleman - I wouldn't EVER intentionally or knowingly incomvenience a.n.other for my own gain. I just KNEW that someone would chomp on that particularly tasty hook... just dint know who! |

If the 'parents with kids' part of the car park is full, and there are no 'disabled' bays, I drive around until I see two empty bays and park my Jagwar across both.

you dont pay private parking cpmpanies ,you dont aknowledge them and you never contact them ....thats just a fish on signal and they will annoy you .
Had these before ,the ones that look like an official one ,checkered around the edges .And just ignored it and it went away although i am unsure about english law ,seems you are pretty much treated as "white bait" ,with little rights and zero protection ....about time you lot toughened up ,hopefully this weather will give you a bit of spine and man you all up .....yous ave went all soft ...innit |

This is a subject I have researched extensively since I got an unfair parking fine. I parked in a NCP car park in Leicester and paid by phone with my credit card, I then got fined for not displaying my ticket. I appealed through NCP's own appeal system stating that the whole point of paying via phone and by credit card is not having a parking ticket. They explained that my appeal had been upheld.
After doing some research on this I found out that they were judge, jury and executioner in their own appeal system and appeals never worked. The fine (usually £70) is completely arbitrary and they have no powers to enforce it. They issue the fine in black and yellow checks so it looks official. It's a numbers game for them as most people will pay up because they don't know their rights. They have no more authority to demand a payment from you than I have if you parked outside my house ans issued you with a £70 fine. The chances of it going to court are virtually zero and if they did pursue it a judge would only award them what it cost them, ie about £3 or whatever the parking rate was. The £70 fine is completely arbitrary and a number just plucked out of the air by them. With my new knowledge I never pay for parking where a private firm is concerned. It's somewhat of a hobby and new found sport for me. Since then I've had about 6-8 letters demanding money and I simply ignore them and that's the last of it. You can't do this with council parking as they will pursue it and you will be fined for what they ask but as for private parking companies you can have your fun with them. |

Spot on GOM. If you tell them to GTF, they generally will slink away and forget about it. They work on the premise if 50% of victims are scared and pay.

As far as I can see, Asda are only trying to ensure that their customers can actually get to their shop. You may possibly find that the 'Pay and Display' system is a condition imposed by the local council. They would not like to see drivers ignoring their town-centre car parking facilities which supplies revenue to the council.
I'm sure that you can all see the problem perfectly well and would probably agree that this is a sensible, working solution...as long as it doesn't affect YOU! Maybe it's time to just follow the rules. The car park belongs to Asda (at least for the moment), so it's their rules. |

You have to pay to park in The Premier Inn in Warwick.
This is due to the fact than when it was free, all the fackers from the office blocks on the other side of the road parked there, and hotel clients had nowhere to park. If hotel clients used the office block car park, they got clamped. |

hotel should offer pay n display passes online to residents only, then guests can print their parking passes out and scan them in at a barrier.
