I assume this thread will fill up with 'experts' in 24 hours.
![]() Having worked in plenty of pubs and clubs, I'd say that after 4 or 5, nobody can tell what brand they're gargling. Similar to Fosters lager, the biggest load of piss on the market, according to lager 'experts'. I worked is an NDC for Scottish Courage, Fosters outsold all other lagers by a big margin. |

Here's a sad tale to upset the whisky drinkers. I used to work at a firm where booze-a-plenty was given to warehouse staff by continental lorry drivers at xmas.
Among lots of other stuff, I had a bottle of Glenfiddich. I didn't drink whisky, even when I used to drink, I was beer only. We opened it the xmas I got it, which was 2002, for the father-in-law to try it. He had a few shots but stopped as he was driving that night. It went back into the cupboard with other stuff. In 2005 when we moved, I packed all the booze into boxes and had it all in my car for the journey up here from London. It all sat on shelves and in cupboards, and was hardly touched. Came home one day the bottle was out, the father-in-law had popped round and had a slug or two. I put it away. A year later he came round again (not too soon) I went to get it out, but it had vanished. I asked Mrs CMAT, who said she had poured it down the sink as it had gone 'off'. Some of it had crystallised on the cap, and she thought it had gone bad. ![]() Got some champagne, brandy and a bottle of port here from 2002, still unopened. |

I've still got my bottle of Dom Perignon that Betfair sent me about 8 years ago. Might share it with the old lady next door at Christmas now I've been reminded.

I used to buy my then Scottish father in law a bottle or two of Laphroaig every now and then (he was the biggest whisky snob going) and I used to put ice and diet coke in mine just to rattle his cage.
I don't touch the stuff now but Laphroaig is not a bad choice. |
