Mohammad was a given but Sophia???.... bit hard to believe.

Looks like a new trend of naming boys after future kings on England rather than past kings.
Report scandanavian_haven December 1, 2014 9:18 AM GMT
I've noticed over the last few years, those from working class backgrounds have begun to "posh up" a bit by given their kids more sophisticated names, parents with names such as Dave and Sarah naming their kids, Olivia and Amelia, no surprise tbh. No surprise with the top boys baby names as it's the First name of the first child in all Muslim families, though cmat will probably have you believe every mohammed in the country is currently living in NewhamLaugh

First name of the first child in all Muslim families

Even the girls???

Didn't know that scandanavian.

What does it mean then, for example my first (Christian) name means "one born to win on Betfair"?
Report Clouseau December 1, 2014 11:08 AM GMT
People jumping to conclusions. I am sure that the great British public merely wanted to pay tribute to the greatest distance runner this country has ever produced by naming their children after him. Some people! Cry
Report Clouseau December 1, 2014 11:10 AM GMT
Some people! Cry obviously aimed at the people jumping to conclusions and not the patriot Great British public obviously. Plain

Clouseau. That is certainly the conclusion the Daily Mirror wants everyone to jump to this morning.

scandanavian_haven  you seem to have developed a habit of trying to turn threads into cmat taunting vehicles, more than a bit unhealthy me thinks.

Wrong again.

I'm not 100% anti-immigration.

I'm anti-immigration of unskilled people.

There's a difference.

The govt, whichever one is in No.10.  has no chance whatsoever of getting everybody back into work while floods of unskilled labourers are let into the UK.

There will still be unemployed people after every job vacancy is filled. But IDS and his cronies want you back at work or they will stop your JSA. It's the govts fault for letting them in that areas like Newham exist, but somehow, it's your fault if you live there and you can't find a job.

The luvvies keep telling us that ALL IMMIGRANTS COME HERE TO WORK.

They forgot to add 'Apart from the ones that don't, the ones that are in prison, the ones that aren't legally here, and the ones that move to areas with no chance of them all finding work.'

You really should read my long post on the politics forum, because I'm not typing it all out here bit by bit.

To narrow down one small part of it:

The population was 209,000 in 1981. About the same time, factories, warehouses and other companies left the Borough for cheaper business rates, as increases were announced, and were thought to be too expensive.

Thousands of jobs vanished in 10 years.

By 2013 the census showed the population to be 310,000.

Where were all the jobs they were coming here for?

Why did they plan to come to Newham if they were COMING HERE TO WORK, and not go elsewhere?
