A "D-A" no, never altough i wanted one. went to the barbers and asked for a TC. He shaved all my hair off completely. I said TC doesn't have his hair like that, Barber said he would have if he came here.

Going back to younger days....
A "balaclava" and the sore chin that went with it. Even earlier, a "Liberty Bodice". What in Christ's good name was the purpose of these things? A "Jock Strap" (why so called). Had to have one for "Rugger" and they are totally useless! Later again... a "Fisherman's Smock" in which I looked splendid and a trend setter, whilst wearing it for pottery. A "Pacamac", which I just had to have, after borrowing one to go home at lunchtime in torrential rain. Embarrassing to admit to, but two things in experimental years..... A "Cravat" and a "Robin Hood" hat with feathers!!!!! A "Ronson" cigarette lighter. A "Rizla" roll your own ciggies machine with "Liquorice" paper. |

A "Pacamac", - My grandad had one. After my nan died he moved in with my aunt, just outside Eastbourne. He'd get the bus into town, buy a newspaper, then walk from the town centre up to Beachy Head. Sit and read the paper, then walk back to town and get a bus home. He was 5 feet 8 and 17 stones, but his pacamac covered him. It used to fold up to about the size the size of a postage stamp which he always carried in his pocket, |

Did you ever go to "Hopkins Tailors" on lower Merrion Street (that was between Upper Briggate and Vicar Lane. I got all my "Drain Pipe" trousers and jeans from there and, from memory, I think they were either £5.00 or £7.50 depending on which material. |

I cannot remember the explanation but assume the holes would inhibit perspiration . They were bloody awful things.

I'm still using my late uncle's variflame lighter, must be nearly 50 years old now and it is in perfect working condition. The chrome has rubbed in a couple of places that's all.

I can only assume the "experimental years" Aunty Post refers to involved the taking of copious amounts of LSD. There can be no other possible explanation for the Robin Hood titfer

A "Kaolin Poultice" slapped on your chest, at just below boiling point, to draw out the fever? no but when I was a kid if I ever had a cold, my sadistic old man used to make me drink a bottle of "Tripple A" after he had put a red hot poker in it. At the bottom it used to have a sediment of clinker from the poker, then I would have to go to bed where I would be left to sweat like a rapist. |

My best worst getup was for our finals at university when a bunch of us turned up for the last exam in black tie, but with wifebeater string vests instead of dress shirts. Terrible idea, and I definitely didn't carry it off.
