The ancient Maya ballgame called pitz was part of Maya political, religious, and social life. Played with a rubber ball ranging in size from that of a softball to a soccer ball, players would attempt to bounce the ball without using their hands through stone hoops attached to the sides of the ball court.

Jeu de paume is actually " real tennis " which is still played
Underwater obstacle racing seems to have lost its way !
Not dead yet but my beloved Speedway is gradually killing itself. If a British World Champion can't even get nominated for BBC Sports Personality then it shows how much it has fallen from the minds of the sporting public, apart from Murray 2013 hardly a vintage year for sport either.
As far as the bbc are concerned- horse racing,unless a horse gets killed.
They are more interested in women's football
