looked on john lewis and the one i liked they reccommended a £280 TOASTER to go with it.

Cheap one for £20; all-singing computer-controlled fan-assisted part-time oven/grill/toaster for half a grand.
but a simple unit that only toasts bread £280
why would you pay that even if u had millions.

Get yourself a "Toasting Fork" and sit in front of the coal (or even gas) fire like the rest of us do.
Toast is somehow much more enjoyable for it, and the excitement of if it will fall off into the fire is all part of the deal.

I only like microwaves that ping once when they are ready.

We only use our microwave for a very occasional ready meal and porridge so the cheaper the better.
