I am seriously questioning whether or not I should pick any up from Asda this evening:

Disappointing

Dry chips lacking in flavour. These chips were not enjoyable and we will not purchase again.

Bad potatoes

Quality is slipping woefully on these. Opened the bag and threw about quarter away, due to bad potatoes - rotten ends, potatoes full of "eyes". Also bags are often full of more bits and pieces, rather then complete chips. Will be looking elsewhere I think from now on.

Worst chips I've ever had

The title says it all. Tasted sour and flat, terrible texture. McCains normal fries are great though

Horrid texture

I thought these chips were really dry. The flavour is ok but the texture is awful. My two year old son nearly choked as the lack of moisture made them stick in his throat. Sorry McCain - Never again.

Thin and lacking flavour

I bought these as an alternative to my usual chips and found that they thin fries rather than "proper" chips, don't taste of very much either but filled a gap on my plate.

Not keen

I've never been a fan of McCain chips - tasteless and cheap. My children don't like them either.

Good idea. We could send a CCDA undercover squad here for starters, especially as winter sets in.

But hey, hey... Let's be careful out there and don't forget to pack your golf clubs lads

Well I followed the instructions on the packet.

I entyered the communal kitchen of my bedsit and preheated the oven to 230ºC / 445ºF

I then spread my McCain Home Chips evenly in a single layer onto a baking tray and popped it into the top of the oven with the intention of baking for 20 – 22  minutes, turning them every now and again, until they were lovely, crisp and light golden.

However, a pal called and asked if I fancied nipping down to the local boozer for a swifty... please note that it's only 100 yards down the road. I asked a flatmate if they minded looking in every so often to check all was well.

Anyway, next thing I know I've come back and the oven was empty. The baking tray was still warm but the chips had vanished.... one of the other flatmates is a drug dealer and I suspect it was one of his frequent visitors. I'm gutted but obviously in no way to blame.Sad

Was there a fire engine outside the bedsit and black smoke covering all the walls?

Actually, now you mention it the place was knee deep in foam and the windows had been smashed in. Shocked

Try and find the Birmingham 'Trojan Horse' stuff on the Guardian site.

I'm told it's not there.

Incredibly, reading down, after posting (which is my habit) the chip theory has already been aired!!!
