I spent years working in shops and I couldn't name one commentator. I had to visit their Glasgow office one day and got introduced to him. Anybody of that era will remember him, if not by name, by his style. Heard nothing like it in any of the English shops and was better than anything on the tv or radio. |

I agree with Benaud, an absolute great. Alas I am too young to remember Arlott though he is often put up as the absolute Doyen of sports commentating.

i personnally loved david coleman sports commentary on football.............. one nil, and athletics ovetts eyes like blue chips of ice and of course................. los angeles the mens 15000 meters final.......................... and finally when he broke the news on sportsnight when millwall had rioted at luton.
