Indeed B-B, you know exactly what I meant. Hope to see you in the New Year in Borough Market for a pint. Ma is being discharged tomorrow fingers crossed. I have bought a stairlift and got a new bed organised. One more Christmas with everyone together is all I want.

The buying of a stair lift doesn't make much sense if you are only talking short term? Please don't take that the wrong way but you have been saying that your dear old mum has been on her last legs for quite a while now. Sounds like she will outlive you and me at this rate, Slippy Best wishes

I saw him just after he got his TV break, he admitted that that was a game changer for him and he made a joke about now being able to afford £50 jumpers no problem.

Slippy Blue the grief of getting there and back and the O2 is a horrible venue to go to
Burton-Brewers yes 20,000 plus waiting for tube trains is not the best
North Greenwioh station has only been there for about 15 years, and it's not really even in Greenwich. You should have tried getting there before the LDDC got involved with improvements.
When it comes to transport, south of the Thames used to come a really poor second to north of the Thames.
Even Newham had 4 tube stations 50 years ago, West Ham, Plaistow, Upton Park and East Ham. If you include the Docklands Light Railway stations, today, there must be at least 30.
Bus routes were 5, 15, 25, 58, 69, 101, 106, 175, 249 (now 262) 278 (now 241), S1, S2, and green line route 723.
The North Circular Road is the A406, the south circular is the A205.
Look at google maps. Vast differences.
Getting from Canning Town to Catford dog track was a major drama with no car back in the 1970s.

Travelling in general South of the river has always been a nightmare. Back in the day if I was out and about in town and said I wanted to go to Beckenham to a London taxi driver he'd just start laughing and his second word would be off. We have Brixton tube and it's easy to get to Victoria but that aside it's always aggro getting anywhere. They were threatening to get the tube link to Crystal Palace but that was just pie in the sky in the end.
As an aside cmat, I walked from Catford dog track to Beckenham one night when I done my absolutes. That wasn't a great deal of fun I have to say.
