"Instinct" still amazes me, that in the original tiny little single cell virtually all the elaborate behaviours of a species can be encoded, like a specific spider species type of web, and how to use it. They aren't taught. I can see how a leg or finger might be encoded, but it's harder to imagine how it encodes all the mating rituals or hunting habits of insects over its entire lifetime.
How is it that the human genome is encoded to know that after 10 pints man needs a pizza or a kebab to survive? |
