Lewes is incredible. Worth a visit. So many Bonfire societies all with their own procession and bonfire. Through the town it's a like a war zone with the amount of noise.
40k there last night. 'Cliffe' is one the best societies. Their effigy was Putin on a tank and of course the Pope. It's all very illegal but the Old Bill turn a blind eye. The effigies are full of fireworks so highly explosive as they come through the town centre. With so many bangers being let off, fires burnt along the way, it's very dangerous. I think 50 needed hospital treatment this year. Imagine if that happened at a footy match... |
